I just repotted some of the Sansevieria cylindrica that Gene gave me. I wanted to fit them all in one pot, but seeing the rootballs on two of the three pots I had, it wasn't possible. I ended up repotting the smaller batch into one of the others' old pots for now.

Sorry, this isn't the best closeup picture. To the left there are two in the pot and there are three in the right pot.

Lovely plants Hamwild, if I may suggest, try to make your media much grittier, if you are leaving them outdoors. Your area gets more rain than we do, so to help those plants, make the media much more well draining. I would mix in more pumice in it. I also try to stay away from using bark mix with succulents, it just gets too moisture retentive, their roots might rot easily.

These people in Calif. are so used to pumice they think it is readily available everywhere. Nope. At least no where around here. And, it is kinda expensive to ship. I use pea gravel. Gene

Actually, it is not too readily available here too, but it was just a suggestion, just choose what is there easier to source..at times, it will be perlite.

But when I do find pumice, in one of the nurseries, I get a bag for future use. I have also been experimenting through the years, other ways to make them well draining, have found kanuma and akadama works too, but not easier to get a hand of unless we happen to be in Japantown, SF.

Just got to make that media more well draining, since your Spring to Summer is more rain filled than ours.

I did mix in some perlite since pumice isn't readily found here, sadly. But ty for the input! I did try to amend the potting mix I bought, but it's always nice to have other ideas on what works best!

I have also found top dressing of poultry grit (insoluble crushed granite) very good for my succulents.

Sans are really interesting plants, one of the few that withstood months long flooding in our homeland. So now most homes there have it. Temperature there is more consistent, not going below 70F year round and goes higher, so it did not mind sitting in water. But here in our fluctuating temperatures, it will be a death sentence to make them that wet for a very long time.

I will not be showing these pix to my Sans. They would only be jealous of a cousin living outdoors and in the ground. Gene

Mine are jealous too. I've never been able to get them into the ground. When we visited Florida it was wonderful seeing them everywhere we went. they all were huge and very happy!

More Sansevieria with above ground pups. S. Craigii, 2" square pot. Hard to see in this picture but it has already put out 2 pups. Gene

Has anyone ever seen a 'snake plant' grow two leaves at once? I noticed earlier that one of my Sansevieria cylindrica is growing two leaves simultaneously. One started a good month or so ago and hasn't gotten all that big yet, but a new one just started within the last week.

Is that normal, should I be concerned (as weird as that sounds asking)?

I think you must have made it very happy! Just be sure to get it inside in the Fall before you get your low temps. I killed some by leaving it outside in Arizona during the winter.
