I have a lot to learn in selecting the good seedlings and ridding myself of others that are not what I want or need even though ice DL. It it going to be soooo hard.

You're right, Steph! And I think we're just beginning to realize how tough it's going to be. But maybe we can find homes with people we know for our seedlings that we know we should not keep, and then maybe we can "visit" them from time to time to see if we were right, eh?

Lyle, thanks so much for giving us these tutorials -- it's fabulous! And I just hope you have more seedling pic's to keep us going because we love it!

Steph - I know you have already bloomed out some seedlings so you are getting and idea of what to expect from the cross you made.

Betty - The cost of raising a seedling makes it difficult to give them away, but that would be a nice thing to do.

Charleen - Thanks for the offer. The area I test grow in is about 2 1/2 hours’ drive from where I live and the temps there is in the teens as where my winter usually stays in the 40's for a low also the northern garden gets good snow fall and temps as low as -26 so I will lose several seedlings but the ones that do make it, will truly be northern hardy.

Thanks! I will keep #4 another season and if it gives up the eye, or passes that trait on a lot can be done with it.

These seedlings have the same pollen parent but different pod parents..

I like #'s 1, 3 and 4. And on that previous set, Lyle, please tell me you didn't get rid of the last one -- that's that blended/bleeding eye that I love so much, plus it has that wonderful double edge and nice wide sepals! You know, if you still have it but are maybe going to get rid of it, I will buy it from you!

Margaret - It is difficult to choose based just on the bloom, but you can get an idea of what effect a certain parent has on each cross..

Thanks Charleen - The last one will go another season. I was also interested in the edge which was trying to show some teeth.

Betty- I will check and see how much of that seedling I have. It may totally change next season, maybe get better..........

I agree If you can stand to wait 3-4 years Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Those seedlings are so beautiful and we all know I love those colors. I am seeing such beautiful and unusual patterns in some of the new ones and I still like the form and base color of the Big Fat round ruffly-toothed ones in Pink, Red, Ong,Purple, and would love to see some of those with those patterns in them. Time says it all.

Lyle, you are getting some beautiful, heavily ruffled seedlings - I have heard that sometimes this type hangs up when opening - do you have this problem? ~Jan

Cindy - you will love what Linda Beck brings to a seedling.

Steph - I think Rudy took some of the purple seedlings up north. He is suppose to get 1 or 2 feet of snow in the next couple of days. The seedlings will get a good workout this winter.

Jan - Non of the seedlings posted above hang when opening usually it is the daylilies like ......

WONDER OF IT ALL that will hang.
