Those are all incredible, Lyle! The first is a real stunner, and I also love the ones going right down the right side (we're on a different page now and I can't quite picture them all at the moment). Isn't that last one the picture you had on your header in your Cubit a while back? It's very unique and beautiful, but I seem to remember that you've already disposed of it -- heresy! I sure hope you haven't sent that orange one away, because it's really gorgeous!

Edit: Is #4 one of your PINK ALOHA seedlings? And what about #6?
Betty

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! OHHHH MEEEE! #1 and #8 just wowed me and it's late at night. It's been a long day. I'm so madly in love with orange this year. I think most of my new ones that will come this next Spring, will be orange!! I'd bet they also will have eyes, big, dark, red, bold, etched, many colored EYES and the more ruffled the edge the better!

Blessings to all, Mona

Lyle, ask me in 3 or 4 years about crossing the old dips with the newer versions. Maybe by then I will have some crosses blooming. I will admit, those old heirlooms sure do produce pods! It just seems to take them a bit longer to settle in after transplanting.

I love your first and last in that seedling bunch. The first one because I love oranges and reds and those dark bold colors. The last one because it is so unique and interesting. Thanks for posting these ~Jan

Steph - The parents --- SPACECOAST STARBURST X WINNING NOTE. Again 2 ten dollar daylilies. You may look at #5 again it is an ELAQUENT CAY X WONDER OF IT ALL showing some carving on the petal. The form is now called relief.

Betty - I did have that seedling on the front page of my cubit. I don't have too much left from those photos #8 did go to a new home and is doing very well. The Pink Aloha seedling was also sent to another garden it was one of my better pinks at the time. And #6 I'm not sure I do know it is out of FANTASTIC FRINGE

Mona - the best orange I have grown with a bold red eye is ORANGE CITY by Trimmer...

Jan – I hope you will be showing us some outstanding seedlings in 3 or 4 years. The bold colors is nice but not all take the bright sun as well as some of the lighter shades, and sometimes require afternoon shade, always something to keep in mind when buying darker color..

This is a sib of #8 (sorry about the bloom condition) if you look close at the throat it has the start of a pleated petal’

You are correct about those dark colors - some of mine fade, some don't. I will admit that my northern sun is a bit milder. Heck your northern daylilies are so much closer to the sun, that they too probably suffer as much as the ones at your place do!

And since I like bold colors, it is something to work for, that non fading ~j

Another fantastic batch of seedlings! How do you decide what to keep and what to eliminate when they're all this good -- or did you decide to keep all of them? My absolute favorites are #'s 7 and 8 (love those fancy double edges, beautiful eyes and glowing throats!), but I also really love those bright oranges. And your toothy poly is really fabulous too!

#4 cause it is ORANGE and quite yummy at that, with such a nice edge. I also love #7 & #8 they are very crisp in the delineation of colors. Please tell me you still have #4 i would love to get that one. Green Grin!

Lovely! #1,7 & 4. I like #1 for the dark colors and teeth. Of course 4 is ORANGE! and 7 sure looks like a God Save the Queen baby.

I bought Orange City for this coming Spring. I'm glad to here you think it's a good one. I love it. Thanks for making some fun during this off season. Blessings Mona

Thanks for the comments! The orange daylilies seem to have gained popularity the past couple of years in 2012 I hope to bloom out a couple hundred orange crosses some with my seedling. and others with APACHE SUNRISE, and other notable orange daylilies.

With the holidays upon us I have had very little time to post. I hope to start posting after Christmas.....

Happy Holidays

I consider myself a red daylily person. All shapes, shades and tones.

But then I found Primal Scream.

I spent more money on PS than I have ever spent on any other daylily, and it wasn't even red! Since then I have 'discovered' other colors- mostly bold colors, including purple, bright yellow, etc. But I think bright oranges are now my favorites- unlike reds, they actually glow. I still prefer reds, yes. But ohhhhh, those oranges.....

Sometimes it's really difficult for me to choose, because there are so many beautiful colors to pick from. Shrug!
