I sure can relate to that, Tamara! Group hug

Do you know which variety it is? I have had good luck with Hydrangea macrophylla 'Nikko Blue', and not so much with some of the newer hybrids, such as 'Endless Summer'. I found the Nikkos bloomed more profusely and longer.

But that was on Cape Cod.

Here, they are far more difficult, due to the extreme heat in summer and drought.

I have never wrapped my hydrangeas, either. But usually when we get our Christmas tree I bring home extra branches that they have trimmed from trees. (The guys at the lot are always glad to get rid of them). Then I put the pine branches over the hydrangeas, just push down from the top and the hydrangea stems hold them in place. The pine branches hold leaves and mulch there as well as make their own new pine needle mulch.

It's currently 20° here. I just bought a new car, a little Subaru, which is 4 wheel drive. Might make driving a little easier this winter.

Local WLs showed 10 degrees on the TV just a moment ago....I don't know if that's for now, or for the overnight low, or if it's really right, but it's darn cold!

I'm already adding on layers, preparing for the trip out to do chores! Brrr!

Congratulations on the new car, Karen. Great! Smiling

Thank you! That is a top notch "Tip of the Day", if I ever saw one and so timely, too. Smiling What a wonderful method.

I must admit, after 6 years here, I am beginning to actually MISS the bad weather, cold and snow a little!
Never thought I would, but there is something really pretty to me, about a Winter Wonderland scene.....every once in awhile, of course, and in moderation.

Trust me, after living in sunny Arizona for almost 15 years, I am a big weather fan. Love thunderstorms, love high winds, LOVE mist. Cold, I admit, I can live without, but love the frost, the snowflakes, the fires we light in the wood burning stove. Makes me thankful for my home, glad to be in it.
In the end, only kindness matters.

I guess we all respond to those LOVE's. This was snow fall from last year. we have some now but just a dusting. Our average storms are around 6-12 inches and with constant cold nothing melts when the storms come week by week. The accumulation is awful.

Thanks!

It was a most amazingly beautiful winter day! I took a bunch of photos...half of them from the car because after a while my fingers got too cold to safely hold the camera!

Cold again this morning. I'm so very glad that I don't have anything to plant until next week....perhaps we'll have a bit of a warm up by then. Smiling

Did you put up a tree? If so, real or artificial? Any lights ...or perhaps a wreath or garland?

We all know what each others' gardens look like, but now that they are sleeping......

All we have done is a wreath and a few lights, but I may do a small (or large?!) tree this week. It will be artificial, though I would LOVE a real tree. Unfortunately, allergies prevent that.
