We love to talk about all aspects of weather, the effect on our gardens, and on our lives. It's a good place to keep a record of weather in our gardens from year to year too, so for that reason let's stay as close to the topic as we can. Please join us and tell us about your weather.

Starting out this first day of summer with a cool 55. The sun is coming up, air is dry and expected high in the 70's. Should be a good day for working outside.

Image is of an orange zinnia blooming late last summer. I still need to get this years zinnia seeds planted. On my to - do list for today.

Currently 60 with a high of 78, wind right now is 1 mph. Suppose to get rain around 2 this afternoon. Guess I better get outside and get things done before the rain. I dug up some Iris yesterday to transplant but need to finish weeding the bed where they are going first. I also want to get some Dahlia put in the ground. They are now growing in pots.

Happy Summer, all!

Hurray! A fresh new page to complain on, Thank You! Char.

We were 110 by noon. Yesterday we hit 116 F with an over cast sky. Today there are no clouds so one can only wonder where we will end up at. Crying

Hilarious! This is my pay back for all you guys freezing to death this summer while it was warm here. Whistling

We finished the day at 115 F. Broke a record for the first time having 3 days in a role with temps at 115 or above. Glare

Rolling on the floor laughing Yes, we sure do like to complain about the weather.

Turned out to be a pretty nice day again. Mostly sunny or partly cloudy whichever way they like to say it. Temp went up into the 70's with a nice breeze. Finished weeding the sdlgs this morning now only the patch of amaranth and a small hosta bed by the patio to do and I'm done. Then it will be treading the paths for the next 2 weeks waiting for the dl's to start blooming.

With the cooler temps all the critters were full of energy this morning. Had a bit of excitement out in the chicken house today...after talking with a friend who raises chickens I trashed all the old eggs a while back and started over. Today was day 21 and there is at least 1 little chick tucked under a very grumpy protective hen. Thumbs up She's still sitting so hopefully a few more of the 11 left are going to hatch.

Would love it if my weeds dropped over dead! Of course if it ever got that hot here I probably would too! Hilarious!

The mullein sdlgs are so easy to pull if they aren't where I want them. I love the tall vertical element it adds to the garden. Folks visiting always give me a weird look while pointing at it and asking if that huge thing is the stuff that grows on the side of the road.

94% humidity is terrible Jackie. That's need-gills-to-breathe weather.

Currently 70 degrees, 94% humidity again with showers in all surrounding areas. High of 80 expected with a 70% chance of rain (100% percent chance here, as it's raining right now)

Luckily, my new daylilies are all in the ground and it looks like Joan Senior might bloom very soon, literally within weeks of planting Crossing Fingers!

Linda, thank you on the daylily. Both of us get our bad weather in the summer. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to November.

They are calling for a high of 94F, so it will be at least that hot at my place.

weather forcast is :
Abundant sunshine. Near record high temperatures. High 98F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
They are forcasting rain this weekend Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!
Dh is ready to kill me with these $150 monthly water bills. I have been watering the new winter sewn seedlings every day, just enough to keep em alive.
We put in a crude grey water system (washing machine water only) a few years ago and I use that water for all the trees. Whistling
Our, monsoon season starts next month or so they say. Crossing Fingers!
Happy Gardening :-)

Raining here right now. I was outside for about an hour weeding in my new Iris area. When did that darn grass have time to fill in like it did. I got it almost all out except for a small patch when it started raining. The wind was really blowing which was nice cause it kept the bugs away. I have already planted some dwarf Iris along the border and some Daylily along the back next to the fence. I have more dwarf Iris to add plus some named TB Iris. I hope to get it finished by the end of this weekend.

Kelli,
I love your daylily and love the rocket aspect! The deep red could be left from a rocket blasting off.

Thanks for the new thread Char!
I love zinnia and every year I have no good place to plant any. You would think I'd be making a place...
Awww on the little chick!!

Linda,
''A fresh new page to complain on'' cracked me UP!!!

Colleen,
That is why I am so glad we put in a pitcher pump. Thankfully I don't have a water meter, but it saves wear and tear on the house pump and it's exercise, lol!
