Love all these Christmas-y avatars!

Fred, not only did you build beautiful beds, but you painted them too! One thing I learned the hard way (and realize I am not building walkways between my beds) is to leave enough space between them to push or ride a lawnmower between. Much simpler that way!

PS- I think I can enlarge those photos Fred posted, use some type of computer program thing-y via satellite imaging, and try to figure out Fred's security system..... at least that is what happens on all the TV shows! Big Grin

I see tink has been taking photos of my daylilies again. I left 3 foot between the beds, most places is wider because of the shape of the center bed. Got nothing done yesterday because of four inches of rain.

It's raining here today. Doesn't look like we will have a white Christmas this year.

We are supposed to get a light snow today so maybe it will be here for Christmas. So different than last year as we already had 6 weeks of heavy snow by this time.

I know NW Arkansas had a lot of rain when I was there earlier this week. I heard that here in southern Wisconsin that we have had a whopping 1 inch of snow, and are very low compared to normal - but precipitation is above normal. We are also 6 degrees above normal temp wise

Fred, It looked like you had some decent space around your beds - I really like the center bed. I only mentioned it because of the mistake I made a couple of years ago Blinking

We have all made mistakes with daylilies and beds. My biggest mistake was planting these trees after putting in the beds, had no idea back then how far tree roots will travel. Maybe we should start a thread of Mistakes To Avoid.
Got all the GRUNT work completed yesterday, all I need to do now is some ground work and get Michele to bring me enough daylilies to fill up the area.
This is a view from the west side (faceing the house) In the left bottom corner of the photo is part of another bed the same length as the new area.

This is whats in that other bed with the walkway in the middle. All the daylilies on the right are now in the boxes.

Overview of the whole area, you can see an entrance way on the north end, there is also one on the south end. Both have climbing roses on them.
Thumb of 2011-12-22/spunky1/c74080
Will add more daylilies as I have time and get the ground back in shape.
North entrance way.

Fred you have created such a beautiful area with the beds and lattice and the trellis entries with the roses are devine. With the mist I could see in the photo's it was just dreamy. Summer bloom will be heaven.
