So today I'm finally outside for short periods of time planting peonies and bulbs (need to get them in the ground). Still coughing a lot and some shortness of breath. DH said "don't overdo" before I went out. DH however is holding down the recliner (you never know when it will escape ) and watching the Iowa / Wisconsin game. Go Iowa

My DH holds down the couch - they're much bigger, and so's he @ 6' 3" Thin as a rail, and getting thinner (he's working hard WHEN he gets outside.......)

Taking a break from chores. Mostly sunny and 59F with light wind. Emptied the annual pots (saving the potting soil for next year), put the rigid styrofoam insulation in the the gh (always sorting what size goes where), emptied a rain barrel (I have 3) and wound up the hose, fixed the downspout going into my other two attached rain barrels, took down the solar lights and shepherd's hooks and halfway swept the garage floor. DH washed the garage door and windows (he hates dirty windows in the winter because he wants as much sunlight coming in as possible) and now he's washing the car. DH is smoking the ribs and it's making me hungry. Had to drag out the pita chips and hummus. I'll have to get started on my part of dinner - roasted red potatoes with onions and garlic.

Cindy I hope he smoked a lot of ribs - what time are we all coming for dinner Sounds like a great Fall day!

Heading off to a hockey game! Opening night for home games. Great stress reliever and I've been waiting months for this.

Ginny - DH smoked just one full rack of ribs - half of it will go into the freezer. He's talking about smoking some more plus a brisket before the really cold weather kicks in. Already have some pulled pork in the freezer. He takes grilling/smoking seriously.

Got the 5 peonies, some daffodils, Lilium and Alliums planted today. Winded and tired but the sun felt great. Saved some for tomorrow.

Yum - wish we had the space, etc to use our smoker! We have one, but have not BBQ'd or used our smoker since we moved here. Not had the time or energy to do it, but hope to, soon.

Ginny, I couldn't even tell you the number of lily bulbs I have planted in the last week! 3 large priority mail boxes, one small, and then probably another at least 200 from another source. Should make for a nice season next year! Oh I also broke a shovel. So I now have a lily bed in the back yard that is about 75 feet long by 3 foot wide. Lilies along the back and side of my house. And a 20×20 plot at my mother in laws.

Talking about tools, my dad founded and ran an airport back in the 60's and 70's. He had a workbench as long as a hanger, like 75' x 3' wide and sets of drawers every few feet; all filled with tools. He could build a 2 person airplane from the frame up; he also crafted a one person helicopter...
