A 10 percent chance of showers after 5pm. Cloudy. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Ginny,
I'll bet we do have plenty of gorgeous lily pictures next year!

Cindy,
I didn't know about stripping the bark. Good to know!
Enjoy that cast iron. I keep all three of mine in the oven. Easier to grab one, and if I forget to take pans out, I don't burn the handles up, lol!
Nice thing about a small town., The lines aren't long and you know the voters and panel signing you in, lol!

Pretty sure we'll need to see "proof" of that Dave - you'll both have to post as many as possible and we'll totally enjoy and drool over them and then let you know at season end if one is the winner Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Here is the thread to what I posted for pictures this year. But I'm more excited for next year as I added a bunch of different cultivars. http://garden.org/thread/go/51...
Jmorth is an excellent gardener though. He takes his time and does his research. And very meticulous. He sent me pictures of his gardens and they are amazing.

I agree with your assessment of jmorth. I might have to stalk his garden photos if he has them here somewhere! I love to look at what others are doing in their gardens Whistling Whistling

I looked at the thread and your lilies are spectacular! Love the before and after shots - very nice gardens! So now I'll have to check out jmorth's! Thanks for sharing - you've done a great job! AND I'm thinking I'll have to add more lilies to my daylilies - they seem to do well together Whistling Whistling What is the really large white and pinks that looked like triple blooms? I think the highest lily count was 144 different cultivars.

Ginny, I think the one you are referring to is called 'rose lily tahalita' it's an oriental lily.

Thank You! for the compliments too. The before and after pictures are the projects that got me interested in gardening. But for some reason I really enjoy lilies. But we all have that one plant type we love.

Jmorth, 144 cultivars wow! If I were to guess, I'd be at around 100 named cultivars. I have the paperwork for nearly all of them. It's the unnamed and unregistered ones I have a ton of. Probably over 200. Those are all OTs and asiatics

Jmorth, on 'mint fizz' are the yellow bands down the petals that vibrant in person? Seems like a lot of times cameras don't catch the colors well as for how vibrant they can be. But it looks amazing in the picture.

Dave yes that is the one. I might be looking that one up! Whistling Whistling

jmorth - I checked out the link and WOW, spectacular gardens! I also love the butterflies and birds and your color combinations. Pretty sure I'd be lost on your Paint printout, but that's ok Whistling Whistling I used to have Rudbeckia Goldsturm and love the Rudbeckias, but the foliage always looked terrible! When I see your color combinations though I want to include some Rudbeckia in my yard as well - I assume you are also in zone 5b. I always like to try to put things together that enhance the color combinations. Thanks for the tour! You too should be very proud of your creation! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

So what I'm hearing myself say is I need to add more Lilium and Rudbeckia in my gardens Whistling Whistling Whistling

Dave, Mint Fizz is vibrant and also, what I'd call 'brilliant'. Probably the best Oriental I've ever had. Orientals usually last but a couple, maybe a few seasons here. There was no appearance this year.

Ginny, I'm situated near the zone 5b, 6a border.
And, thanks for the complements.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms before 1 pm, then scattered showers. SE wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Dave,
We'll enjoy your pictures just as much.
Love your mailbox bed! Love all your beds!
LOVE mint fizz!

Jmorth,
OH. MY! The yard layout is awesome!
It's all spectacular!
I find that lately my orientals don't last either. I lost Muscadet first. I never replaced it, or any other that I've lost. I'm determined to plant in buried pots when I find room for them again.
I'm more 5a zone-wise.

Between the two of you, there will be plenty of pictures.

Rain finally moved in with some good thunder and lightning. I'm so happy!

Hi All,
Just finished reading this whole thread. I hope to be here more often in the future.

Overnight we got a little over 3" of rain. I don't think we are suppose to get much more. Not work outside today, too soggy. I have plenty to do inside to keep me busy. Very happy to get my Allium bulbs in yesterday before the rain. Wasn't sure where to put them, so I just plopped them in. I can always move them in a year or so.
