I don't mind the rocks -- most of it can be used for our borders -- I love that so much of it has mica in it (the shimmery/shiny stuff they put in makeup!) so it sparkles in the sun...we even decorate the rocks LOL



It's a pain, though, when trying to plant bulbs and what-not without amending first with organic material. My stargazer and casablanca lily bulbs didn't even think about putting out buds because the ground had compacted so much over one season (I've been waiting 2 years for blooms!!)

I learned my lesson and dug them up -- I'll move them to the other lily bed. We've learned our lesson; if we want to have thriving plants, we need to add organic material to almost every area on this property I planted Apricot Jade and Francois Verhaert and can't wait to see everything next year!!! @legalily it's come a long way this season!

Okay so today is payday and my birthday (a big one for me) is Saturday. I think I may buy something special to commemorate this milestone. I'm not sure what it will be but it'll have to be something that will do well down south Now the fun begins in figuring out which one it will be.... <pulling out wishlist...>

Jackie I love the rock edging on your flower bed You have definitely come a long way this season!!!! I too have to amend everything I plant. That's why it takes so darn long to plant bulbs instead of just digging a hole and dropping them in. I looked at my 2018 list I have ordered so far and split them out (on paper) into the gardens I will be planting them in. It seems I will have to expand the borders of a couple of those to accommodate the new daylilies coming in spring So far I have 44 new ones coming in the Spring - I really need to stay off the darn LA

I have more than that, and I dont know what half look like by the name. In other words, I need to stop too. Im making a long spot with lirope and making it wider, putting the new ones down in front of them. I rarely plant in ground, but the pot situation is out of hand, an I still have a gazillion seeds for next spring
going with the cattle watering things for seedlings.

If I didn't know better I'd think we were all out of control with our daylilies addictions

Well my co-worker offered to dig some fans from his collection and then brought me one of his photo albums to choose from. Mostly dips and mostly older, but it was like tempting a wino with a wine tasting!

I TRIED to be good and winnowed my page and a half list down to 10. I can't remember them all, but Lights of Detroit, Strutter's Ball, and American Revolution were some of them.

Talk about enabling...
