Nothing to do with eating.........but.........
Yesterday afternoon I picked the plant I was going to take for stage decoration for tonight's Band Show. It was a nice, blooming dipladania..........in a hanging pot. Took it off of the pipe and was winding my way through the bunch of ferns. All well and good, but I forgot there was a smaller pot in between 2 of the larger ones and of course it was in the middle of where I was walking. Couldn't see it because of the plant. I tripped over it and the one I was holding hit the cement floor. It landed flat on the pot's bottom, but I heard the tell-tale CRACK and knew it wasn't gonna be good. It wasn't.........cracked about halfway around. Ok, no problem, I'll just set it down outside the door while I wind up the hoses on the hosewinder, then I'll take that roll of white silobag tape and just tape it all back together. Plant is big enough and hangs over far enough that nobody in front of it would see the "patch job". Wound up the hose, put the hose cart back in the greenhouse. Got the tape. Picked up the pot just to move it a little, and the whole thing split all the way around. Dammitall............and I don't have another hanging pot that size (it's a big one). So, I go back in the g'house to look for something "decorative" that will work. Hmmm..........too small......too small...........too ugly..........too big.........oh, wait............lookie here, boys and girls...........a big hanging pot that is between the table and the wall, and it is just the size I need. And it is intact!!! Gloryoski, Zero.............what luck. More than I deserved, I reckon, but I'm not going to dispute it. So I pulled the dead pot off, pulled the few wretched oxalis out of the dirt and plopped it in the "new" pot. It looked lovely up on the stage. It had a few blooms, and a couple of really long stems that were going crazy in the greenhouse. On our way home from the show, we stopped at church and I dropped it off there so we can enjoy it there today. After church it will go back to its tropical home.
We had about the usual crowd for our show, but it was well-received and we did a pretty decent job, all things considered. I will miss not being able to be in it next year, but not enough to not go to Texas. :>)
