woofie said:Oh, oops! I get windows and tabs confused! I like multiple TABS, not multiple windows!

I use multiple tabs sometimes in Safari -- I just don't like a bunch of windows on top of each other. I was taught that way when I was starting out in digital graphics.... and it is just ingrained in me.

I even have two displays. I make use of the Mac's multiple desktops with an easy swipe to the left or right on the Trackpad. I have had as many as 5 sets of desktops at once..... but just don't give me multiple separate windows.

It's not for internal ATP links, it's for external ones, in case that's what you tried it on.

What is middle click?

I just went to my preferences page. I don't want new windows to open, how about having it set up for new tabs to open?

I usually have tons of tabs open each time.

Your mouse, you have a right click, a left click, and a middle click, the scroll bar click.
As Dave posted above, tabs are a browser preference you have to set up. Mine was already done that way.

Thanks Sue! I tip my hat to you.

I'll have to ask DH about it later. We have the latest version of Firefox and Windows 7.

In Firefox:

Click on Tools->Options->Tabs Check the box that says "open new windows in a new tab instead" (it might already be checked for you). Then the magic Dave worked for us today will be perfect for you, too. Big Grin

At the top, Tools>Options>Tabs, there is an option to check if you want to "open new windows in a new tab instead".

Thanks Mary! I tip my hat to you.

I just checked by doing all the steps you stated and Dean already has it set it that way! Hurray!

So, by checking yes in my preferences to open a new window, it will open up a new tab instead?! Green Grin! Thumbs up

Ok, somebody give us a link that opens in a new tab for them, so we can play with it!

Checking my preferences it says: "Open external links in a new window?" Perhaps that should be "...new tab?"

Now you guys are making this much tougher than it is!

In you preference you can choose "open links in a new window" . If you set "yes", then links will open in a new window. If you set "no" links will open in the same window.

But you can always do what you want with your mouse...

I'm talking about the ATP preferences... The option is as I copied/pasted above. Mine is set to Yes. Then when I click on a link it opens in a new tab (not the same as a window).
