Well, now we know. Wow, that's quite a garden.

Do people feed the squirrels a lot there? I know people feed the pigeons all the time.

do they ever feed them... likely 10's of thousands of dollard a year .. they give them nuts of all sorts.. as well as lots of bird foood.. many squirrels will approach you with a nut and take it out of your hand... if that one won't.. there will soon be one there approaching to to receive it... the ones in my local park.. then climb one building.. to get to the back yards of my block.. then climb my fire escape and plant their nut in my planters.. I bet I remove a pound of peanuts in their shell every year when I go thrugh fluffing it out in the spring... removing old roots before planting.. also get ... with no oaks in sight and other park and garden items... courtesy of the well kept squrrels

Would they leave the area if no one fed them or is there enough "natural" food to support them there? Is Central Park full of them?

yes.. there's plenty of food for lots of them.. .. speaking of feeding the pigeons... we have also ring necked doves... but they don't eat them much.. here as shooting is frownd upon here.. and lots of folks keep coops of racing... [ Homeing ] pigeons on the roofs and back yards... aa guy down in the middle of the block here and 60 or so he released a few times a day to get out and fly about... building racing strengtth .. and magnetic fixes on the location..
Years ago.. I was a pigeon feeder... when I was in Boston for college and after I went to the big downtown gardens with a bag of cracked corn and made large designs on the lawns... these would instantly fill in with pigeons eating... turning the hillside in to living art... I'd done one design over part of a sidewalk.. and this guy came scuffling through scattering them about... and then went into a phone booth... so I sprinkled the corn all around the phone booth.. and the pigeons filled it in and soon there were legions of pigeons surrounding him.. 30 -40 pigeons deep .. more like living theatre then..

Yes Sharon, he does have what looks like pink eyes. He seems to be much more apprehensive about being close to you when we are in the yard. The other squirrels don't scare that much! Those baby squirrels are very cute. Lovey dubby

I think I read somewhere that albinos are much more sensitive to light and motion than usual. He sure is pretty.

For whatever reason I couldn't get the video to work, Critter. My problem because the link was fine.
I'll try again later.

Love that albino squirrel! I don't think I've ever seen a black one, Rita, only gray and red around here.

This is the most aggressive squirrel that comes to the bird feeder at my place. If I go out to fill the feeder, it might back up to the tree limb at first, but if I bend over to get something out of my feed bag after filling the feeder, it'll be right there eating when I straighten up right next to it. It won't run away from me normally. I call it Notch-ear for obvious reasons.

I agree
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
