Do y'all know if Santa Rosa has a sale in June and/or when the next sale usually is after Memorial Day?

I just got an email from them that they're having their summer clearance sale. 299 different plants are on sale for $2.99 and some of their selections are only $1.99. Some of the plants I'm looking at are Geranium rozanne and havana blues for $2.99. There's lots of plants to choose from.

Just go to their website and click on the left menu where it says "NOW ON SALE" in red. The prices are great!

I was telling you about the plant I got from HCG that was one inch tall and then they sent me a bigger plant which was two inches tall in a bigger pot. Whistling
So I ended up with two plants which are now 12 inches tall and getting ready to bloom. They are Dark Knight. Thumbs up

I ordered from them one time a few years ago. I didn't care for their plants. However it was during an end of the season sale. I had to send the guy a photo of the poor plants and they sent me replacement plants. Just don't like to get dead plants in the mail. They do have many of the new hybrids though.

I cant seem to have any luck with cheap plants in late summer.
The zone is correct for what I order but there doesnt seem to be enough time for good root system to form before ground freezes.
I have lost more than I gained when ordering in late summer.
Just give me the spring 50% off sale at Bluestone, those plants seem to return the next year.

My last late season sale plants from Santa Rosa didnt make it.It hardly matters if the plants are 70% off ,if my money dies over winter not to mention the hole digging labor. My hats off to those of you who have luck with late season sales.
Just a precaution when ordering.

Jo Ann, I've had the same experience. It is very hard to resist those bargains, but after years of bargain shopping, I realize that if I buy a cheap plant in August, all I get is August and September out of it. A Two month annual. The plants I buy on sale in June, on the other hand, usually thrive through the summer and make it through the winter. The exception was last year, when we had such extreme heat starting in June, and no rain for several months.
We have a long fall season here, so local nurseries stay pretty stocked up into July. Box stores have plants until October. Sometimes I buy the 90% off plants and try to winter them over in my garage.
The sale right now at Santa Rosa is perfect for us--so many of their plants are very drought hardy. They have the best selection of grasses anywhere! The sedums they carry are the newer ones that stand up better. Sedums and grasses are beautiful plants for fall color. Lovey dubby
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

I am in a warmer zone but I did have a problem with some Coneflowers I got in September, I asked Green Thumbs to add them to my Helleborus order. I think they rotted. Sad

Joann you are so right! I just sent Michigan copies of all my invoices from last year (2012) asking them to replace the first of the year. Don't dare send me the dreck they have left from this season.

The Echinacea are huge! Love the flat rate shipping, might need to check out the Coneflowers. Humm, I think I just ordered a couple from SRG so maybe I will wait. He is a great seller though. I bought hostas from him the year before last. Thumbs up
