Thats the problem I had. The tape wiggles and bends when its pushed over 100 inches.
I take the full height pic and then measure and trust people believe me. The full pic gives a refrence point against the spruces and Sparl;ie Spike thats completely covered.

Alas the ten foot cosmose's journey has ended here. Wind snapped it off.
I had tied it to the Sparklie Spike and the whole thing just bent in half.

Yeah, bummer. But you're lucky that it lasted so long. Nothing over 2 or 3 feet lasts long in my yard. Too much strong wind storms.
