Hi Linda. Mine has come to an end alas. It was great fun to follow the growth. The last measurment of mine was 124 inches.

It was fun. I couldnt believe how tall and big it got. I tied it up but just before the last measure we had 70mph winds in Sep. hurricane days.

yes.. but with the old seeds... with the Halloween decorating craze ... I totally forgot to collect more seeds

I have planted siberian iris there but if one comes up in DD's side of the garden and she doesnt see it for months (it could happen) I will photo and measure.

I hope for some self seeders as well

we have a 6 footer.. most were knocked over during the hurricane.. but a few are looking good

I loved this thread.Didnt have a 10 footer this year.

I was surprised any of them were still standing after the winds they had... some broke and are growing up now... looking like snakes

well my one hopeful broke in the storm yesterday

Oh what a shame. And amazing that it survived the hurricane to bite the dust a couple of weeks later.

I know.. such a shame.. seems a bunch were beat up in yesterdays storm.. the wind must have been just right .. even gave me pouty lip

Mine also came from a trade (from sunngrrl or sunnygirl) and were called
"Cosmos Dazzler"
Cosmos bipinnatus
scarlet (deep pink)
[A] self-sows freely
2-4' tall.

Most of mine are a pale purple (lavender?) but around 1/3 - 1/4 are deeper purple.

I started them in trays indoors, and they did nothing for weeks after going outdoors. Then, for months, they just just bushy and tall.
They didn't bloom until it started getting cold, and now they are profuse!

But if I cut them and bring them indoors, they fade and drop in 1-2 days.
