Question: Why do white spots and blotches appear on some dark-colored blooms? It doesn't happen on all flowers of a particular cultivar, but it has been enough of a problem that I would like to figure it out and maybe do something about it if the solution is not too complicated. Any insight and suggestions are welcome.

OMG Jill love love love Desire Of Nations no blotchy spots wow had Bulgari bloom and it didnt. Usually our reds purples dark colors have water spots.

Love all the blooms i have seen this year, sad its winding down.
Darn winter is coming. At least i will have time to catch up on logging all new cultivars only 47.

I can't find 'Floating Flute' in the database. I'm guessing it is 'Floating Float'? If so, the bloom form is registered as a single, which doesn't quite cover what the photos depict . If it is 'Floating Float', you should consider adding your photo to the database. There aren't many photos and apparently that gnarly form is somewhat typical of the way it blooms.

The registration has the name as Floating Flute, the NGA database is incorrect. I just submitted a correction for the name. Not sure why the registration doesn't have it as a Sculpted pleated form it is from Dan's sculpted line and is pleated. I've added that to the database as well.

Whatever ones are blooming Seriously, I do have favorites in the different colors....
Lavender has to be Aqua Tech and lavender/pink Cool Hand Luke. In the pinks, Pink Promenade, Impossible Dreamer, Panties in a Knot and Tossed By the Waves. Cream, polychrome, melon colors would be Betty Harwood, The Wonder Emporium and Van Gogh's Ear. Red definitely Mercury Lounge and dark purple/red Season of the Witch. Favorite of the extreme pleats is Origami King. All these grow and bloom very well in zone 4.

Raining this morning so everything outside is a no go, but there is hope for later this morning. Working on getting indoor stuff done and images sorted (thumbs up for sorting images, not the boring indoor stuff like cleaning house, laundry and paying bills )

Actually, the NGA database is apparently incorrect on this. I went one step further and checked out the AHS link and in the AHS link it comes up as 'Floating Flute'. The NGA database needs to be corrected, but at the moment I can't remember how to make the suggestion to do it. Maybe I'll remember and think about a while and it will come to me or maybe someone who does know will see this and make the correction.

Your good photo would still be nice in the database since the name just got in the NGA database incorrectly somehow. I'm sure it will be corrected.
