After a really strange year of weather, my gardens are limping along... my Daylilies have taken quite a hit with a long February warm up and then a following arctic freeze. Lots of June rain, and drought until this morning. I water at least once a week when there's no rain, but I don't baby my gardens by any means. I've still got a few bloomers...

Mighty Chestnut... almost done:
Thumb of 2018-08-05/IAgrl/a024b6

Red Carpet Moment... going strong on its rebloom. Some of the reblooms are stunted (this one is) from lack of water:
Thumb of 2018-08-05/IAgrl/2e6528

Substantial Evidence... still going strong:

Thumb of 2018-08-05/IAgrl/221e19

Kwanso - two blooms left:
Thumb of 2018-08-05/IAgrl/b14ad9

Scottish Fantasy still has ~10 blooms to go, but none today.

Diana, I'm so sorry about your pup... we know that loss and will give ours extra love. Group hug

Mike checked out prairie wildfire. It can't be that it is too short mine is 30" flower 5" dark red with a black cast halo? It is not as distinct as an eye does go up the midribs a bit. It does have a chartreuse throat. I would call it midlate or late based on only one that still has quite a number of buds. Age is at least 20yr (my guess a lot older) got them 2004ish from daughter of owner who was a seller hybridizer? who had passed away she didn't remember any of the names bought 5 different ones (less than 8 each) all pretty but alas no names! Been looking on & off for 10yrs but haven't a clue on any of them. Now I have 70+ named varieties & it would just be nice to give them a name! Sorry for rambling & not being that up on Daylily culture but I am trying to learn more.

Thank you everyone... Group hug I am blessed to count you as friends and compadres... I know many of you have four footed kids and have been in this place before. I am without "human's best friend" for the first time in 23 years... So, yeah, hug them extra for me..

He was my protector, in many ways. He "protected" my kids too. DD #4 once used a jump rope to tie a thermos jug to her waist and as she ran, it followed after. Crothers thought it was chasing her and over the fence he went to get that dangerous thermos... I laughed til I hurt.

He would wear sunglasses, hats, blankets, bows, whatever. Loved being brushed, blow dried, and vacuumed.

Charley, I hope big headed brown dog is somewhere as beautiful as your picture for him. If, as the movie says, "All Dogs Go to Heaven," he has earned his place there. He was a loving and loyal companion and friend and he is loved and terribly missed.

Again, thank you all for your words of comfort and condolence. I appreciate you wonderful guys and gals very much. Group hug
