Really beautiful Aruba! I love that last shot with the hill side! My land is completely flat, not a hill insight. How do you get in among them to weed. I've gone to longer rows that are narrow so I can reach them from both sides. My problem here is quack grass, it drives me crazy, and the only thing that will kill it is Roundup. But that doesn't do it completely. It spreads by roots that run under ground. Bad stuff.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.

Aruba,

Yes thats the way my garden looks, only not nearly as full. Mine grow togehter and they are hard to tell apart when they are not blooming. They would be so much easier to maintain if they were in rows like you have yours now. You have some gorgeous iris pictures there.

Paul thank you Im hoping the new one will be the same hopefully a little less work with room to move in it to clean it.

Tom I had the same problem with that grass It is constant work to keep it under control I never could get a handle on it when its time to divide your Iris I would probably dig it all up and add some new dirt and compost to start fresh once that stuff takes hold Its hard to get rid of with the roots so far underground I had it growing up between the bulbs and it seemed to grow faster than the weeds but if you can dig it and then get a pre emergent down it will make it a lot easier to maintain If you can find Snapshot try it I have used a couple different ones but it is the only one that seems to stop everything and last the whole season but it is pricey.

Lucy Thank You I will look for some this year I have never had them but remember seeing them at Schreiners they are beautiful

I am going to try 'keyhole' beds next time. They are supposed to take up less space for walks and give more ease of reach to larger beds.

Polly I bought it from more a commercial turf supplier here locally it was 135.00 for a 50lb bag but one bag lasts me 2 years with great results if your interested I would maybe look at like a farm supply or figure out where your major lawn care companies are buying there products I think it is fairly popular product amongst Farmers or growers.

Paul that seedling bed looks great its amazing how fast they grow when they are happy.

Thank you Aruba, I will look for it. Preen gets expensive for all the commercial beds, and Snapshot is supposed to be better. I would imagine my nursery supplier can find it for me, but I haven't seen it in the catalogue.

Paul, your seedling bed looks really great! In your other bed it looks like your soil is hard, and quite rocky? But the irises are multiplying well, and sure look happy.

I'll be adding some mulch to my established beds soon and break up the soil. It does drain well. I did prepare the seedling bed with lots of organic matter before planting.

Wow, amazing -- do you have any help with keeping all those beds up, Aruba? After I ooh and ash at how beautiful it all is, all I can say is -- you must be young!!!

And Paul, I love your seedling bed. Do you think they might bloom this spring? Can't wait to see all the little goodies you have in store for us picture-wise!
