You would never know these were all ripped up a few weeks ago and replanted. Just the ones in the bed. Not the ones in the rocks.

This bed is 24 feet long and the ideas are rolling through my head for using the side of the shed for more.

that will give me room to get more! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

What a great place for semps, the low growing sedum and other drought tolerant smaller type plants. Hurray!

Thank you!

It only took me about 7 years to figure that out! Hilarious! I had some great looking flowers growing there at one time. It took a lot of work and watering to keep it nice. Started working full time and didn't have time to keep it up. Hence the H and C. Plus a daylily for texture and color.

Vicky, how is your project going? Any new photos?

I saw something very exciting today. Hurray! My Sedum lydium is going to bloom. This is a first time for me. I read that it can be shy about blooming.
And look at her red stems. Lovey dubby

Lynn, that's great. I've never had one bloom. I keep telling you that you have the magic touch and live in the perfect climate. I have a special request. Can you take that pic again, and put a dime in the pic so people can see just how tiny and beautibul lydium is? Thanx

I love it too. Wish I had lots more. Mine is increasing OK, but it's slow in this climate. BTW, I think that S. requieni is a perfect companion to most semps as long as they are not grown too dry. How is yours doing? Another nice one for growing with semps is dasyphyllum Major. I'm dividing mine as much as I can to increase amount growing. Some time back there was mention by others of other dasyphyllum varieties. Do you have any of those, and can you post pictures?

Many thanks

I have a book by Ray Stephenson that shows I think 10 or 11 different varieties of dasyphyllum. They are sure lovely. I think I have 2 of them, dasyphyllum and dasyphyllum major. Wish I had more of them.
I hope to clean out one of the remaining three 4x8 raised beds and convert one to nothing but low growing, small sedum. Maybe put dividers down so they can grow into each other?
I need to look at my sedum, not sure how the requieni is doing.

I've been scattering bits of lydium and dasyphyllum Major all about in various semp and heuffelli containers. I read that each leaf of Major will start a new plant, so I've got some of the leaves scattered as well. In a year or two, I should have plenty. You would not believe just how much S. hispanicum I now have.

Hispanicum has done very well for me also.
I read in Helen Payne's book that dasyphyllum can become a weed because it shatters at a touch and that each leaf will root into a new plant. I like that kind of weed. Smiling

On my way out to take a photo of lydium, the sun is out.

Here is the promised photos, only with a penny, I didn't have a dime. *Blush*
Sedum lydium 6/5/2012
Bloom stalk

Leaves after heavy rains for several month. Really plumped up and large for this plant. Soon our dry season will arrive, turning this little beauty into a mass tiny red leaves. A beautiful sight to behold.

This is last year during summer, before it turned completely red. I'll try to remember to get a photo at the end of our drought season this year.

Here is my Sedum hispanicum var. minus today. What a beauty it is in bloom.

The Sedum oreganum is taking over this large pot. Looks like I'm going to have to take the sempervivum out.

Sedum lydium finally opened up a flower on it's very tiny bloom stalk. Will have to try another photo tomorrow, this one is really blurry.
Photo taken today.
