Twit, I think it is the cool temps and rain. I am excited about seeing the entire cluster opened up. Wonder if it will reseed itself?

Mine are making a comeback this year, after almost losing them. I've spread them around a bit, to avoid the situation where I only had a single pot of them and almost lost them. Did the same with requieni and dasyphyllum Major. No longer have concerns about the hispanicum...I secretly think it might be triffids in disguise. The are trying to take over the whole yard. Blinking and look like they might eventually succeed. At least this form does not bite.

And I thought I was rid of the Triffids. I am finding hispanicum coming up everywhere. Good thing it is tiny and so far isn't a problem.

I'm not familiar with that weed. Something tells me it would be much better to have S. hispanicum.

This reference is helpful. There is also a variegated form. Horribly invasive, almost impossible to get rid of once established. People that offer it to you either don't know a lot about gardening or are your enemy. Grumbling Angry IMHO Been fighting it for decades, literally decades and losing the fight. Worse than triffids.

It doesn't look familiar.

New sedum from Siskiyou Rare Plant Nursery.
Sedum palmeri.

I am very excited about this new sedum (to me new). I had a wonderful visit with Dale, who is such a source of knowledge on interesting hard to find plants. I look forward to his fall catalogue coming out. He sells in the spring and fall only. Sometimes you can make an appointment to go to his nursery during the off season. If you are ever in the area it is so worth the stop.

I try not to fall in love with the upright sedums because i just have the worst luck keeping them going. Could not resist this guy today, not that I try very hard.....

Love it. How tall does that one get? Do you put them into the ground? Or keep them in pots?

I have no idea how big it will get. Right now it's going in a pot. We are moving soon, everybody that can fit in a pot is going in a pot.

Not far, still Seattle, just a little farther north to an area called aptly enough: North beach.
We will have a view of the sound which is really exciting, but the sun will be only so-so. I was really hoping for a vast improvement from here, but I don't think I will be getting it. The dogs and I will be sharing the front yard so I will have to get creative. They've been really good about the pots they can get to now, I don't expect a sudden surge in destruction. I have carte blanche to have any trees in the front cut down for my sun needs, but I always feel guilty killing something so something else can grow. Which is why the yard is such mish/mash of things.

Hello Lynn, I have a sedum I was wondering if you could ID it for me. It's a neat thing with large flat leaves about the size of a penny. I have it planted in my living wall.

It looks like this one Holly. It is such a wonderful sedum and has lovely blooms. Has yours bloomed yet? Sedum tetractinum f/China
Chinese Stonecrop (Sedum tetractinum)

It is looking very happy and will get thicker/denser in habit, especially if you pinch it back some. All the pieces with root easily, just give moisture until they root.

Yes it did flower but I was so busy at the time I didn't get a picture of it and can't even remember what the bloom looked like. Thanks Lynn, I'm pretty sure it came from one of the co-op or special sales last year. I have some really cute sedums that have seeded themselves into the cracks between the bricks of my patio.

I would love to see some updated photos of that wall Holly. I remember when you were getting it going.
I just love that wall.
