BB, that was the first bloom so it should straighten out with the warmer weather we are getting now.

BB, I figured out about the serpals. I noticed that in a lot of the photos I take that the sepals are this way. I take the photos really early in the morning so the blooms are still trying to open all the way and the sepals just aren't fully opened yet; I need to wait a little longer to take the photos.

Crimson Cowboy looks really nice, now I wish I had gotten it.

Fred, Can't Touch This has really impressed me, it is simply Gorgeous.

Thanks for posting all your pictures. For those who don't notice, I am posted my pictures on my previous post titled "Woo hoo my first bloom" or something like that. I should have 3 blooming this morning. I'm a little later than Fred and Michelle in bloom, but lots of scapes coming on.

Great to see Abileen Lillian and Buddy's String Bean. Lots of great pics. Last year James sent a SF of Buddy's String Bean as a bonus and this year it is eight fans! That is definitely a fast increaser. Crimson Cowboy is a different shade of red than that of the hybridizer's photo. I am delighted because I got a SF of it in a trade with a local friend on Saturday. Can't Touch This is stunning. Yesterday I looked at a bud on mine and thought it might be open this morning, but when I went to check the bud was lying on the ground. I have a family of bunnies in that bed. Last year I would find buds lying on the ground and not directly under the scape. I think they think they have found food and then hop off and drop the bud. BAD bunnies!

BAD BUNNIES!!!! To lose that bud would just nearly(I wouldn't do this, but!!) be a cause for bunny stew!! Atleast they have great taste. I was reading about cooking daylily buds the other day. They say that the pastel ones are the good ones and the dark buds have a bitter taste. Just curious, do you remember if the bunnies got any of the dark buds?

I don't know why, but I couldn't eat the buds off my plants. I guess it's one of those mental things. I'd keep thinking how beautiful that bud would be when open and I just couldn't force myself to break it off!

I hope this will be the last bud they get. Maybe if you put some carrots out there, they'd trade with you.

Blessings, Mona

I would throw some food elsewhere that they like and maybe it will lure them away from the blooming DL.

Can't Touch This is just plain a STUNNING bloom and proving to be a great plant overall from what I amd seeing on here of it. I would love to try it here.
