The generator is set up to run the oil burner and bringing heat to downstairs and greenhouse, refrigerators, and the living room, enabling computers and internet too. No cooking!
We will shut it down later for the night and start it up early tomorrow morning. Outside temps are above the freezing mark so I don't expect it to get that cold too quickly in those off hours. We should be ok like that if it takes several days....
I am soooo glad we bought this thing!!

With my success with kingianums, I need to get some new selections...strangely, I have not found any Canadian vendors selling this one.

Here is an update on my Odontoglossum Margaret Holm...I managed to get a clear shot with both spikes thanks to the first sunny day we've had in weeks!

You know, this was the first time we really had to use the generator. I would think it came through with flying colors.

I am toddler sitting today, but I will be happy to take some pics tomorrow!

Todd, yes that belongs in the favorite section. Fantastic markings on that plant.

On the weatherfront - it is marvelous here the last couple of days. The sun is out and for the first time I sense that I have the right lighting conditions for my orchids. It took a while. I still don't know about mid summer when the sun stands right overhead but right now everybody is very happy with new growth appearing all over the place.

The pool is now 72 degrees with help from the solar system. A little more and then I'll help with the heater and try out this new playground for myself. I'm just so happy to see the orchids happy. It is not as easy as one might suspect to grow them outdoors outside of their natural outdoor environment. It is probably easier to replicate desired conditions in a controlled greenhouse home. It's all about reproducing water, warmth and light the way they like it at their natural home. Here they have to adjust to what Florida provides.

I agree too and what GA provides. Grumbling Very well put Fred. Once the shift is made to outdoors I'm hardly home free here. Just a whole new set of challenges.

Aerangis citrata acquired in early November is starting its happy dance.

A little closer. The all white flowers don't photograph very well.

And my tiny Baptistonia echinata. I thought Ursula posted a really beautiful specimen a year or two ago.

Ah, but it's alive. I need to enter mine in the Orchid Heaven if I haven't. Bloomed itself to death a few years ago!

A few of these Laelia looking flowers are opening on my Eplc.Pixie Charm (not). Should be a nice show when the cluster is open.
