Today was another moving day as the orchids went back to their home on the lanai. I'm sure they hate the garage but they hate the cold even worse. Here I am trying to lug that huge Epidendrum radicans back around the house. Now you see why I want to change the lanai into a greenhouse.

Then there is the Grammatophylum scriptum. A little help, anyone?

Here are a few vandas taking in some sun just before the move. I just lay them in a wheelbarrow and take them around ten at a time.

Jim, from here they don't look unhappy at all. What is the Grammatophylum scriptum ? Is it growing in/on something? Or is that spiky base just the
way it is? Looking at your garage picture with the plants all hung up in a neat row, reminds me of a souk in Beriut (sp?) or one of the crazy night
markets in China. Hilarious!

The Grammatophylum scriptum is a big orchid that is growing in a square wooden basket. The roots came out all sides of the basket grew straight up like a big comb-over. I haven't seen the basket in years. It is now just this big root ball with large leaves and in the summer, it will put out 3 to 4 foot spikes in all directions, each with 50 or so blooms. Here it is in bloom:

Ursula, great display on the Dendrochilum and the Coelogynes look fabulous and I love the Phaiocalanthe.

Kathy, good work with the camera on your Hsin Buu Lady, you know that one is right up my alley. I will bet even the one bloom on your B. Little Stars smells good.

Jim, I can see why you want to convert your lanai. Seeing all the snow at Ursula's and the problem with the cold you are having made me think about the ski lift system they use for transporting people up the mountains. Maybe you could gear up a lift system to help move those plants from one area to another. Rolling my eyes. The plants don't seem to mind the relocation from time to time, as they sure are good looking plants.

Todd, your odont hybrids are very eye catching, but your Paph. gratrixianum is sensational. Where did you pick up this plant and how long have you had it?

This NOID paph is my reliable paph, it blooms every 9 to 12 months and each bloom lasts about 2.5 months

Oncostele Midnight Miracles 'Moonless Pacific', blooming on second spike. I love the sweet spicy musky aroma of this one.
