Lee, this thread is for what is in bloom at your home. I would put questions on a new thread here http://cubits.org/orchids/foru...
or here http://cubits.org/orchids/foru.... Thanks!

Sarcochilus Elizabeth 'Red Delight'. End of Vanda Pachara Delight. The cold and wetness and the change is making the orchids sulk. This happens initially every year and then they acclimate and take off!

Lee, since my Enc. lancifolia is new, I can't take credit, so I'll refer you to my favorite source for species. http://andysorchids.com/defaul... easy site to manuver, just look on the right side at the list, and click

Yes, you are right Boo. Indeed, I did mis-post and my apologize to all. I'll be more careful next time. I had just not see the ones, Boo, you were kind enough to show the links. It must be maddening to have someone like me on and just post here and yon. I suppose my excitement got the better of me. Imagine that from me. LOLOL.
I did inspect under the leaves, Boo, with a flashlight and magnifying glass and found nothing so I suppose I'm back to square one. I'd put some Neem on them but I dislike the scent of it as it reminds me of a Chinese restaurant. I have nothing against Chinese restaurants but I don't want my plants to have that scent.
Carol, thank you for providing the link. I'll go to it now.
Again folks, sorry for my goof.

Carol, I went to the link but it said it could not be found. I see Andy's Orchids is in the link so I'll just look up Andy's orchids. Thanks again, Lee

Sticking my head in here now. I went to the Orchid Fest at Silva Orchids on Friday, met up there with our friend and we spent a couple fun days with him ( lots of food and Orchid chatting. Smiling ) I will post on my new purchases ( which are already tucked into their spots....) and more.

In the meanwhile, nice posts everyone! I am flipping for the Cyps!! Just gorgeous!

Lindsey, Hoku Gem is a cutie!

Jim, you have a very pretty display there on your set up. Lovey dubby Your El Hatillo looks good, you are a bit ahead of mine.

Kathy, I adore the Bletilla ochracea. I planted this one years amongst the others and this was the only which didn't establish itself outside. Perhaps your "grow in a pot" - method will be more suited to it.

Now let me look for Lee's post in a different location, as I don't want to hijack this thread.

Lee, hopefully you take your camera next year to the Cyp parviflorums and post them? No need to give locations....but we would love to see them.

Kathy, SBOE lumps Enc. with Cattleyas, and lists them as intermediate growers. Andy's instructions are C-I-W temps (45 to 98).,bright , indirect light, and moist watering (3 to 5 watering per week.Let dry slightly between watering). All of his are either mounted or in baskets.

Ursula, I'd be happy to take pics next yr. of the Cyps. I could get to them now but would have to go through poison ivy and of course there are no blooms I'll see if I can navigate through there with these new knees and see if the remnants would be visible.
I don't suppose these are rare ones but I certainly wouldn't want anyone decimating them by digging them up. It's my hope that the kind of people who live around here wouldn't know a cyp. from a goose egg.
I'd love for other orchid lovers to visit whilst they are blooming but I'd really have to trust them.
The same warning was given to me by the same gardening lady regarding the ginseng. I didn't know there was a market here in the States for ginseng but what do I know.
I can't believe (oh yes I can) how stupid I was for yrs. thinking they were daffodils from an old homestead.
Ok, then. Next yr.

Lindsey, your Bc. Hawaiian Leopard looks just like mine. Don't you just love it!

The Rhynchostylis retusa has opened up. I have two beautiful bunches of flowers on a scrawny plant. Oh well...

It took me three years to get it this far. At least most of the fungus is gone.

Wow, on the 10th I had caught up with all the photos and posts on the cubit. I cannot believe how much new there is today (the 13th). Very hard to keep up! Thank you Lindsey. I like that one too, partially because it only had a tiny spike when I purchased it and it bloomed, so it must be happy here. I really love that Bc. Hawaiian Leopard 'Mei-Ling' .

Lee, it is an intermediate grower. I have only had it for a couple of months, but it seems very happy in a south facing window with a fair amount of humidity.

I have a new orchid! It was a gift from my orchid angel. It is a beautiful phal with two spikes and wonderful blooms. Thumb of 2011-06-14/belaschick/0ddf1b
I don’t think there was an ID was there Kathy?

I went to orchid Heaven yesterday. Actually a gardener’s Heaven. Kathy’s photos are amazing, but they do not compare to seeing the plants at her home. Everything was amazingly beautiful with all of the complimentary plantings. It was a total sensory experience. Sitting on her porch I could view the gardens, hear the brook and the songbirds, and savor mingling fragrances that subtly changed as the breeze shifted.

Thank you Kathy for two beautiful orchids and a garden tour that lifted my spirits.

The other plant is a baby Blc. George King 'Southern Cross'. I was admiring someone's Blc. George King Serenity, which is a parent of this plant I believe. This is what it will look like when it matures.

Even my Aerangis Biloba is happier lately. I purchased it with what the seller believed was a spike. It struggled a bit until I moved it further from the window on Boo's advice. The spikes (two now) grew to almost three inches, but lately they have started to look darker and a bit droopier than I felt they should (how I know this, with no experience and never having laid eyes on such a plant before, I have no idea), but I moved it again, started giving it rainwater, and it seems to be perking up. I'll post a photo tomorrow in "Anticipation"
