I planted all my zinnia seedlings. And I put some zinnia seed to start indoors because I want it to sprout. Zinnias need to be very warm to sprout. Planted out my Pole Bean seedlings also. Still have one flat of fruit punch poppies to plant. I planted the other two yesterday.

I am also soaking some sunflower and mexican sunflower seeds overnight and will start them in cell packs tomorrow. Then I plant them out in the garden as seedlings. It has been non stop planting around here lately. I want to get it all done!

I think the "too hot" is already here. It was 86° today, supposed to hit the 90s by Thursday.

Beautiful pictures, everyone!

The gardens here look like mid-August; they're so dry.

The Dutch and TB Iris are handling it okay, though the roses are struggling a bit. Peony blooms are opening, but are only lasting a day or so in the heat.

Just a few minutes ago a cold front blew in, so that may help a bit. No rain, but at least it's a break from the unrelenting hot sun.

I must say that it's been a really enjoyable spring, however; it's nice (for once) to be able to be outdoors - sans stinky spray, without being eaten alive by mosquitoes and gnats!

OH my! It looks gorgeous! Hurray! Green Grin! nodding

Raining today but finially settled into a fine mist so at least I could go outside and get my cellpacks filled with potting mix to plant the sunflowers and mexican sunflowers I put in water to soak yesterday. Not that these seeds must be soaked but I just want them to start up faster so I soaked them. Then my Spanish Musica pole bean seeds came in the mail today so I planted them in cellpacks also. All my will be seedlings are now inside in a warm spot in the kitchen so that they germinate quickly. I have no grow light set up but once they come up I bring them outside in the sunshine during the day and back inside at night until they get big enough to transplant. Or at least until they get bigger!

Bean seeds will not even sprout if it is not always above 55 so it is always best to start them indoors this time of year. Once they are sprouted, they are fine.

I got things done just at the right time because now the rain has really started up again. It has been a very rainey spring and everything is so green here. Wish I could send some rain to those of you that need it!
