Yes, I've also seen a smallen one for sale at $175. I'm feeling better about paying $50 every day. I'm off to give my second presentation today but this one is at least an hour away. Too much running!

I met Laurel yesterday in Apopka and we all had buying shoes on. I give you the scoop later. Gotta run.

I don't forsee a day when I would pay that much for any plant. However, when Oak Hills sends me their monthly newsletter with the specials...

C. Amehtystglossa and Laelia crispa mounted
Brassavola glauca and Brassanthe Bill Worsley
Rhynchovola (Brassavola) David Sander
Potinara Cameron's Magnatism with two sheaths

Much closer to my budget!Thumb of 2010-11-11/ctcarol/dec687

My David Sander is growing like a weed with roots firmly wrapped around the whisky barrel. You'll be posting the blooms before you know it! And I'll take the responsibility as long as I get some credit when it blooms.

OK, I finally have a minute. I gave two presentations yesterday, one on growing modern roses in Florida and the other on underused palm trees. The last one was in a county library about an hour and fifteen minutes from here and I didn't get home until after 10:00. I was up early this morning to teach a three hour class at church on Swingli and the Swiss reformation. I think I might have said something about roses or palms but got away with it. Sticking tongue out

Laurel is doing fine. We really get along well and have great fun orchid shopping and dining at The Catfish Place in beautiful downtown Apopka. There were no dog bites this time and Steve's hand and my leg have healed well. Laurel had her buying shoes on and hauled armloads of orchids out to their car. She also had several that she bought at Fuch's down in Miami. That is also where she bought my beautiful Coelogyne pandurata shown here. It is indeed better than a lump of coal. She also found and bought a palm tree for me that I have been looking for for more than a year and I am thrilled. I'll post a picture of it over on the "What Else Do You Grow" thread. Bottom line is that it was a wonderful day.

I bought a monster Schomburgkia undulata with a 40 inch spike on it. Talk about anticipation. I took this pic by the screen door so you can see the size of the plant.

I tried not to, but found myself wondering among the vandas again. I did only buy one so I'm getting better. The price is still $10.00 but they didn't have nearly the selection as before; perhaps only a quarter of their normal inventory. This is Ascda Prao Rainbow.

I know I'm taking a risk here in that the newbies who are struggling with names and abbreviations will ban together and hunt me down like a dog but, here is Cyc. cooperi 'SVO' AM/AOS x Cyc. cooperi 'SVO' HCC/AOS. It is in spike and the flowers are fantastic. Can't wait.

That's about it except for a freebee kiki from Dendrobium aphyllum. I have lots of work ahead getting them in proper pots and in a good location. Isn't this fun?

Saw that, Jim. Their website leaves something to be desired. Found better pics, and explainations on Brazilian orchids.
