No blankets necessary but a pack animal to help haul orchids around to the garage would be helpful. Overnight lows here are still in the mid 60s so no rush.

This plant really needs to be repotted and I've never seen one climbing like this..
when I do repot it, I will be tilting it so that more of the new part of the plant is in contact with the potting mix?

Sure. That works. I do whatever looks right for the plant. It's okay if the roots reach up too. Just more misting.

Laurel and Steve are in Miami tending to their house there. I'm planning to meet them in Apopka on their way home. While in Miami, Laurel visited Fuch's and found an orchid I was looking for, so with my OK, she bought a Coelogyne pandurata, http://www.orchidspecies.com/c.... I should get it on Tuesday when I see her. All this is so exciting!

Not I but I would suspect you need 2-4 waterings per week (let dry between waterings) if it's mounted.
