Thanks Bill, these all came from Lowe's this week..new shipment of plants at all the stores, so I got
'pick of the litter'. and the price of $6.99 was too good to pass up.

Ursula said: do you have any tips on blooming Dichaea glauca? I am growing a nice plant for several years now, it hasn't yet bloomed for me. I am still trying.

I used to work for White Oak Orchids (now in Pacific, CA), we grew these in an unheated GH where the temps would drop into the '30s on occasion during the winter. We kept them rather dry during the winter and they grew well and bloomed regularly. My suggestion is to give it some cool/cold nights for a few weeks and see if that does it. They bloom in my cool house which gets down to about 48 F.

BTW, they smell terrible!

Neal, so that's the trigger!
My greenhouse is then simply too warm, except for a spot by the North facing door to the deck. Unfortunately I am running out of room there.
I sure could use a cool growing area!
Thanks!

I agree With kathy! Call them. They often have a few in the greenhouse, but don't advertise because they don't have a lot of them.

So would I. Those guys love to talk to customers. Whenever I get an order, they do an unheard of FOLLOW UP CALL and will talk orchids and care, etc. Just like the olden days.

I got an email back from Andy today (that's the second California grower I know of that answers emails on Sunday). He said the Dichaeas will be back on the site, they were just divided.
Durn! Wish I would have ordered them when they were big...

Andy usually doesn't sell smallish plants, I bet they are still decent size.
