bloominholes2fill said:Ann, step 4, of the Pixlr instructions, says that when 150 can't be achieved, it's acceptable to go to 151. Smiling

Actually that is not correct, read further to step 5 to manually add 150.

I know. That's what was confusing me. Or some of what was confusing me.

So anyway I haven't had a chance yet to take a 'look see' at Pixlr.

Perhaps the instructions could be clarified to eliminate the conflict between #4 & #5? Shrug!

Gotcha Thumbs up

So, I'll preclude by saying that I'm an Owl.....always analyzing and looking for solutions. I'm sure you all don't need yet one more cook in the kitchen Hilarious! but I do have the best of intentions at heart for the NGA (as we all do). Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

With that said, and if you'll humor me for a spell......

These instructions are not completely obsolete, but that day will come. There's still confusion 6 years later, but when it comes to clarifying them, your hands are tied, Sue. Sad

So, if you and/or Dave aren't already considering this, perhaps it's time to revisit writing banner instructions for long-term...... say by Administrator(s) and/or Dave, for different PC and device OS's. This way they can be easily edited by an Administrator, IF and when necessary and for years to come, as PC's and electronic devices develop and change.

Just suggesting, and you can do with what you will....no offense will be taken Smiling Smiling

I think I have a banner ready, but I do not know nor understand what to do next. I did one I think last June, but now I have updated my Mac yesterday---I think I have managed the size, but I am not sure either whether it is the right size, I am terrible--not getting smarter as I am getting older. I still have it on my photos file.

Drag it to the desktop (for example) and then double click on the image to open it in Preview. From within that app under Tools select Adjust Size and then set the height to 150 pixels. If the width is 1200 or more at that point, it's good to go.

To upload for banner consideration, go to this page

https://garden.org/barn/banner...

Select "Choose File" at the bottom then upload and preview.

If any of that does not make sense, I can try to clarify.

Curious with all of the new tech, is there an easier way to make a banner vs what was described several years ago? Thx

The directions will vary depending on which graphic software you use, that's the main difficulty in making a universal how-to-do-it post. But the important thing it gets down to no matter what program used, the dimensions must be 1200 x 150 pixels. It can be longer but no taller than 150 pixels, but I've only stuck to the 1200 width.
