Nice seedlings Lady, also like the first one. Planted 14 trays yesterday morning (1008), going to have to make another bed, my son will plant his here and that will take one of my beds. He only used a half bed last year, but got a little more serious this year. I hinted that maby he should make a bed at his house but he didn't seem to take the hint.
This is a two year old I used a lot this year as a pod and pollen parent, will keep it another year.

Michele - I think both seedlings look great! The second one is my favorite. I like the color combo and the teeth on the edge.

Fred - The eye on that seedling is so striking!

Michele, I love that first seedling and then the parents on the second seedling look fantastic. I hadn't seen Lillians Stoke the Fire and Open My Eyes. I looked them up on the database and Open My Eyes has a bunch of babies but I like L.StF the best.

I hope the stats on the first seedling are good. I'd like to see it into'd.

Mona, Open My Eyes set lots of pods last year for me but this year I guess it wanted a break because I didn't get any, the ones that set aborted.

Thanks everyone

I think the teeth on that one are heat related because neither parent has teeth.

I have 12 seed trays plus a partial one filled so far and Kim has 10 plus a partial one. That's 1584 plus seeds planted so far. I'm just waiting a few more crosses to ripen then I will be done. Where did the year go, it seems like it wasn't that long ago we were just doing this.
This year we seperated Kim's and mine instead of planting in same seed trays like last year and now they are all mixed together in the bed. The one thing we didn't do, which I meant to, was plant her dips and tets seperately. I may have to redo the seedling numbers when we transplant them in the beds so she'll know which are which when she goes to pollinate them and not have to go look them up.

I made a make-shift shelf for my seed trays since I didn't have the steele shelves like Fred has to put them on; there are 2 sides to this. I put a top on it this year because last year when we had 2 weeks straight rain storms a lot of my seeds got washed out of the trays. I also put sand on top of the trays to keep the fungus gnats away from the seeds/seedlings because they can get really bad here.

Thats great shelving for your seeds. And under the trees they should get some shelter from the storms.

I tip my hat to you. Dot

Yes they will get plenty of shelter. They will get enough light without the sun being directly on them drying them out faster.

A few from today

The first 2 blooms where single and the next few have been double. I doubt it will stay a double since the parents aren't, but you never know.

WOW! Michele, I love the second group. Both of those seedlings are winners for me. The first cross amazes me that it is a solid, not like either parent. It looks like Carol Todd without the eye and edge.

I bought some seedlings this spring that bloomed and they don't look like their parents very much either. A few do, but most don't.

Michelle that Dble seedling is stunning, also love the single and the first one in the Julie Newmar cross really got the edge and pattern down.

Fred I love those seedlings out of Boundless Beauty. It is a great parent.

Michele, I love your seed flat shelves -- what a great idea! I might try something like that myself somewhere down the line, and I could even put chicken wire around them to protect them from my ever inquisitive CATS! Thanks so much for sharing your idea with us.

You guys are showing the most beautiful seedlings, and I'm already getting enthused about what wonders we'll see next spring!
