We all need this reminder, thanks for posting it. My plants are suffering because I refuse to go out during the day. We usually get cooler weather in the evening, but hasn't cooled off too much the last few days. Which reminnds, me I have to go out and water now.

Good reminder! This is something I've had to fight my entire life. For some reason, I'm extremely prone to heat exhaustion, have been ever since I was a baby. Like Pegi, my poor garden is suffering, too, because it's just too hot to do much during the day.

And I've found that if you find yourself feeling the effects of the heat, it helps a lot to drape a cold cloth around your neck; helps to cool you down faster.

I might add that it's recommended to begin drinking water 20 min. prior to going out in the heat. I've followed that rule as well as the others you stated & thankfully have never had to suffer heat stroke.

Always good advice. We in the Southwest deserts need these reminders constantly.

I'll share that managing time in heat and sun is done before, during and after exposure. Water/sodium balance is important re stroke and electrolytes. Good idea to keep a drink like Pedialyte in the fridge during the hot days.

I have elderly friends who intentionally reduced sodium in their diet to near nothing and both (married couple) experienced stroke within hours of each other.

I understand it's not a helpful to take in salt DURING exposure or exercise. It takes the water FROM tissue.

Some of my medications cause me to be even more heat sensitive so following these guidelines is critical.

I've suffered from heat exhaustion before and it is no fun. It just sneaks up on you! Best to follow this article and be aware. Heat Stroke can kill you!

I've always hydrated pretty well. And in the last couple of years I can't tolerate heat well enough to stay out in heat very long.

I have to work extra hard to stay hydrated. I don't like water, so I add a bit of lemon juice or pomegranate juice to my water.
I am so thankful it cools down at night here. I go out early in the morning and in the evening when the sun is setting.

I've MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and I can't tolerate the heat (indoors or outdoors), so I stay in the house with the AC on and try to go out after 7 pm.

We've had so much heat during the Summer that I didn't get all my plants in the ground yet. Still waiting for much cooler temps.

Waiting, hoping, praying for cooler temps...and rain! You would not believe how much people...and the weatherpeople talk about hurricanes...because sometimes we get good rain when hurricanes are out in the gulf. I feel guilty about wishing for hurricanes!

How could I forget the rain! In our area we haven't much rain and we need days of 'good soaking rain'! Our grass is brown and the only thing growing in the grass is lots of weeds.

So, we've been hot and dry! We're 7 inches below what we should be for today.

Seems like the drought doesn't want to end, even though they're talking about El Nino beginning sometime later this year (yay! I like El Nino!). We're in moderate level drought and I'm tired of the constant high 90's, even triple digits sometimes. Might get a slight break this weekend, slight chance of rain and might see low 90's briefly again.

Me, too... and it doesn't like me either.

I finally found a way to drink enough of it without feeling quite so bloated, nauseous and miserable. I add a bit of aloe juice to mine.
