Well, maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'm happy and proud to go that extra buck or two, just to buy from someone who actually gets their hands 'in the dirt' with lilies. Someone who truely dedicated to their profession and who's livelyhood depends on it. As long as we still have five or six of those left in North America I'll support them fully.

It really is sad to see so many of those once very good regional growers/sellers get ropped into mass marketeering by some sheister bean counters more interested in the dollar bill that their product and customer. Sometimes I think they don't even know what a lily is, much less know how to handle and bulb control them.

It was a hard reality for me because my 93 year old father and I had been loyal to many of them so long. Some of them we had visited and even walked their fields. It was tough when the hard reality set in that our relationship with the new setup would not and could not ever be the same. And after being 'cheated' and 'done wrongly' a few times, it hurt and made me more than just a little disgusted and angry. I don't have another year to waste correcting some bean counters mistake who doesn't give a darn about me or the product they sell!!

crittersgarden, I don't mean to discourage you from buying from these lessor outfits, just passing along some friendly advise thru my personal experience.

I've been to your lovely city several times during the Fall Season. It's beautiful!!.

I agree Lorn ,I think it must be tempting for the small outfit owners to cave in. The work is hard so I support them for that alone.

I agree, also, Lorn with everything you have said.

Jo, there is a Gardenwatchdog here, it's recommendations, and you can find it at the top of your home page.

I even have a feedback already, which I much appreciate:) I think this will surpass Garden Watchdog, as you can upload photos. There's nothing like seeing it yourself. I always wonder when someone leaves negative feedback on GW if they are someone who doesn't know how to plant that specific plant, or if they leave great feedback, if they are related and just pumping up the ratings, but with pictures you see the true story. And I hope people come back with pictures if something doesn't bloom true.

We were posting pix on the iris forum when iris orders came. I agree there is nothing like an image.
Thanks Polly glad I found it.

I actually found this thread on the internet when I was looking up Lily Tree! Someone posted a picture of one but it was not Purple Prince. However I did find this and seems like 'Lily Tree' is just a registered trademark.

It probably amounts to hype but they have been fun to grow.

It looks like the company that coined the Lily Tree phrase has thrown confusion into an already mired world of definition.
I grew Purple Prince as just a lily it never developed into anything special and the voles took it last year. I have other lilies that are taller and with thicker stems and multiple blooms.
Satisfaction,Shocking,Robina all grew tall with thicker stems and have been referred to as trees.
Its just my opinion but the website that coined the wording was trying to set tall heavy stemmed lilies in the minds of prospective customers.

Many lilies have thick, sturdy stems and Purple Prince did as well. You can see the stubs from 2012 in this photo.

The whole thing was likely a sales ploy but you can see Dutch Gardens did not use "tree" in their description. Credit them for that.

I agree with everything you all have said in these updates to my old question.
After I got those in my hand, I took them and planted them at a community garden I sometimes tend.
MY big problem with them though is the same problem I have with many things named "purple" soandso:
THEY'RE NOT PURPLE!!!
They're pink, usually, sometimes lavendar.
THIS is purple:

Thanks for the information! I would like to try a couple of those. I was going to order EYELINER from B&D and they have PURPLE PRINCE but none of the others. This is good for now, I told my self I was not going to order anything else.
Ok, it's not a tree and it's not purple. But I still like it, they should call it Pink Prince Bush Lily! Hurray! Hurray!

Which would be truth in advertising AND tell me that I don't want it right off the bat.
