Plants expand while others die and we gardeners often have to make spur of the moment changes. That's when I generally forget to take a quick photo or make a note so I can add the information to my photos, which I rely on heavily.

I took a photographic journal of every singlle change I make since I broke ground in what was a lawn at my new house in 2004, so I could trace its progress and even maybe if I was lucky, put together a time lapse slide show. Really. Then in 2007, my hard drive crashed..... I now keep all my photos on USB drives. But those first 4 seasons are forever lost....

I rely on photos too Pirl. I seldom sit and enter information in my own garden notes.
I also referr to month by month garden photos to be sure I am not buying a plant where there really isnt any space for one.July is my best time to check for spaces.Thats when websites are having tempting sales and the new lily bulb orders go out.
Of course lilies can be wedged in anywhere.

Critter - you have my sympathy. I began gardening here in 1991, before digital cameras, so I do have all the old photos and will have to get around to scanning them someday. It's fun to look back and see the drastic changes. This lily garden is such a delight.

When my computer died, over a year ago, I lost many photos including the first year of my grandson's photos. It hurts.

I keep all my pics on an external hard drive for that very reason. It holds nearly 500 GB so I have a long way to go before I have to worry about upgrading.

Now, back to lilies ~ there are lots of goodies out there.
Moonlight strain (7' trumpet) is super fragrant, as is Invasion (5-6' OT)
Thumb of 2013-12-14/Moby/161d49 Thumb of 2013-12-14/Moby/ba938c

Honeymoon (5-6' OT) soft white with yellow, Gluhwein (5-6' OT) peachy rose, fading to cream
Thumb of 2013-12-14/Moby/397e55

Saltarello 4-5' melon color and trusty ol' Silk Road (5-6' OT) white with magenta
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

Too gorgeous! You've done a fantastic job, Jo Ann.

Love those trellises, Jo Ann, and all the lilies, everyone.

Moby, I'm impressed that your Invasion so close to the house is not leaning!

Well, that part of the house is an addition built on a stab. It has relatively short walls and flat roof so the lilies get full sun except in the early morning. The light color of the house probably helps too.

These are all so beautiful. I remember I got Honeymoon last year in a trade, my one flower was gorgeous. I love the Invasion and the melon color of the Saltarello, very pretty!

I think you'll like Honeymoon ~ after it settled in, it's consistantly 5' or more for me. It had now split into 3 bulbs and all have reached >5' in height. That's one thing I like about OTs; they reproduce but not too quickly.

Thanks! I believe I will like it and the others I purchased like Purple Prince, 'Conca d' Or', and 'Tea for Two' (aka 'Time Zone') I will definitely get more next year I love these OT's!
Do you have anymore favorites? I'm all ears!

I was reading about this one when looking something up from a catalogue. I'm all ears!

I just planted Friso last fall. Its supposed to be the same as Silk Road. I bought the bulbs because it was listed as a taller lily.
Lets hope.

Silk Road--One of the highest seniority plants I have here! And probably the most durable. I think this one would grow anywhere for anybody and still do well. Mine stays right around 6 or 7 feet tall and a group looks best from a short distance like 50 feet but is still the most visible one from even a block away.
You'll need a small saw or good size pruner to cut the old stems at fall clean up for this one from The Lily Garden.

I should add, I've received more compliments on this lily than any lily I've ever owned, most likely I think, because it maintains it's good looks with clarity from a distance.
