I think it's safe to say the Purple Prince is not virus resistant at all either and we should be saying no to that as well!

My Purple Prince is almost 6 years old and I've never had any virused blooms.

I can't help but wonder if there are unscrupulous dealers who knowingly sell virused bulbs at bargain prices. Then certain companies might buy them and offer them to us trusting gardeners.

Pirl "trusting gardeners"? I have built up more cynicism in the past 8 years due to experiences with online buying.
There are no bargains out there. Bargain bulbs are usually the teeeeny ones that take years to mature. I'll be 80 in January ,just cant wait for bargain plants and bulbs to show their stuff.
I pay more but have fewer items per year.
The other website gas a good link to thousands of online vendors and rates them.
I always check Garden Watchdog if using someone new.

On Pinterest the other day, there was a post about 5 easy steps to "grow peaches from seed" I did repin it, but in my comment I added a 6th step: WAIT several years for the tree to mature enough to bear fruit.

And they said "grow a peach", not a peach TREE.
Some of the younguns will fall for that!
Hilarious!

Also surprising is that it sometimes works in reverse. I spent my lily budget last year at a recommended supplier, and not even half of those showed up to this summer's party, and the "just add water" Mother's day lily pot from Meijer is outstanding! Blooms that I'd previously grown in the gardens here are twice to triple the size, in perfect health, and all eight of them are crammed into that single 16" pot. Hilarious!

These blooms are anywhere from 12" to 16" across! My garden-grown lilies of the same varieties pale in comparison.

Too bad about the virus. I think we all agree the color is a big disappointment.

It's all about marketing. I'd never have bought if I had known it was pink, since I have so many. I do like it and it is impressive with all the many blooms but it's not purple and will never be purple.
