Yesterday I got to meet the person who made the gnome. It was quite the coincidence! I responded to a craigslist ad where a beekeeper was looking for a place to put hives. The beekeeper came over and put a hive in my yard (five more to come). And he saw my gnome!
Thank goodness that the humidity went down this weekend in DC. So I got busy today working on my project.
Lawn gone!!!
Mix: top soil, humus & manure, sphagnum moss, perlite
Not quite finished as I need more stepping stones.
Yeah, I was afraid the humidity might come back as last year it was hot in mid May all to the end of Aug. It took my father and I about three hours to lift the grass. Another two hours to and from Home Depot. Then three more hours to do the mix and placements of the semps and stones.
Will get back to the project when I am free again. I'll post photos when all are finished.
Kim that is going to be so beautiful. Love what you did for your Emerald Heart. : )
That is going to be full by this time next year. What area are you going to redo for next year?
What a great thread! Made it halfway down & now have to take Joyanna up for a nap... but I wanted to ask, with those "pinch pots" or other little semp containers, do you put a drainage hole in the bottom? Or is hypertufa porous enough that a hole isn't needed? Love the sandwich baggie idea for forming the tiny pots.
