Yes, hard working girls. I've been primping three orchids that I will show at the Tampa Orchid Club meeting this Tuesday. One of them is my Dendrobium spectabile that we have been talking about. I had Patty take a picture of me holding it so you could get an idea of size. Here she is:
The second one is Schomburgkia undulata with three spikes around six feet long each. Once again, Patty took a pic of me holding it. Note the star bursts to the left, right and above my head. This is one heck of an orchid.
The third one is the Gongora smaug (Gon. clavidora X pterodactyl). You can certainly see why they call it pterodactyl.

I'm wondering if I also had Smaug. Is it flesh colored? Now mine is off to orchid heaven. Tell me how you care for it! Love to get another sometime. Ah, to grow orchids in Florida!

Yeah, it's a tough life down here - we do have one more cold front looming for next weekend, but generally, it's been a perfect winter for the orchids.
Jim, how're you going to transport the big Schom. without breaking those long stems? As they said in Jaws "We're gonna need a bigger <truck>".
That Spectabile is magnificent! And I'm with Kathy, the Gongora is on my wish list. I love those little red pterodactyls.

Schom transportation is a big worry. I won't know untilI get it in the truck. The Gongora color is as pictured, dark purple/red. I grow it in the shade and keep it moist, pretty much the same as the Stanhopeas.

Vandirea Newberry Jasmine is a very pretty small repeat bloomer. I had bought 2 babies I think last year, the other plant expired over the Summer and luckily this one was the prettier one of the two. ( no speckles on that other one.)
Zygostates apiculata is so tiny, it is difficult to get decent pictures. It has a bunch of spikes evenly distributed around the little pot.
Baptistonia echinata has a bunch of spikes this year. Quite a few of the small "bees" dropped before the main spikes fully opened.
I am loving the Den Love Memory 'Fizz'
The 'Flamethrower' opens more spikes
Lc Rojo starts up
Enjoying the Potinara Redheart 'Neptune'
A cute noid mini Phal growing bare root in a small clay pot!
Kathy, you would love the Lc Rojo. Mine was a division from the original hybrid, but this cross had been repeated a few years ago and there were plenty of plants to be had at shows.
Great show, Ursula. I'm thinking why I don't have a Lc. Rojo, nor a Stelis ciliolata, nor a Baptistonia echinata. All are worthy and the Vandirea Newberry Jasmine is growing on me. I think I concentrate on the large orchids and walk right past these beautiful smaller ones. I should pay more attention.
Two new bloomers out in the OC. First up is Dendrobium Burana Green Star. Tons of buds on this one.
The other is Psychopsis Mendenhall, alba form.
