We could identify the genus on some but not the particular name of the plant.

I'm just back from the orchid club meeting where my Schomburgkia undulata won the members choice ribbon. That is where all members in attendance get a paper ballot and vote for the best orchid on the bloom table. I seem to be getting a rep for bringing in high quality orchids. Now a group of ladies want to come over to see the OC.

Here are a couple of bloomers and novelty pic as well (my wife says I am easily entertained!). The novelty pic shows a root growing through a hole in the leaf. I think the hole was caused by a bird last summer.

Jmorth, you've got phals, dens, oncs and catts - all possibly crossed with others - in that mix. There are thousands of named varieties of each of those species. Afraid you'd need the names off the tags before you'd be able to post them to the database.

Some lovelies going there, Ken.

Poor Jim, all the ladies want to tour your OC, huh?? It's the price of fame, kiddo. Did you rent a van to transport the big Schom?

Thanks, Elaine. Perhaps in 3-5 yrs. I will have the number of bloomer's that Jim and Kathy have. I do have several in spike/bud, a couple of which I lost labels on. When they finally bloom I will know what they are and can properly label them. That Phal. NOID is approximately 24" wide and has been in bud/bloom for almost two months, with more buds forming every week. I wish I knew what it is (I like properly labeled plants) but I guess I never will. Jmorth, which botanical garden is the display at? They have a pretty nice array of different species, plus a nice selection of pots, too!

Do you have orchids of your own? If you're going to start, that's the place to buy them.

It's tempting (and may be cheaper) to buy at Home Depot, Lowe's or Wal-Mart but you won't get as good a plant as you would at your botanical garden. They're generally sold as disposable decorations from the big box stores.

MOBOT - Missouri Botanical Garden - St Louis.
Those displayed/for sale in St L appeared very healthy. The first 4 are in the Climatron, that's a giant geodesic dome housing their topical collection.
The 2nd batch shows about 3/4ths of those for purchase in their gift shop.

I used to live in St. Louis and enjoyed visiting the Climatron on many occasion.

I've been out in the OC finding new homes for yesterday's adoptions. It is getting crowded out there and the big Tampa Orchid Society show and sale begins on Friday and the Tampa Orchid Club will hold its Orchid Auction at the USF Botanical Gardens on March the 9th. I'm shining up the buying shoes this afternoon.

While out in the OC, I discovered Blc. Haleahi Sunbow 'Bow Wow' X Pot. Haleahi Jewels 'Ruby Tangerine' is blooming. I picked it up at the Florida West Coast Orchid Show last October.

Out by the big oak tree Epi radicans is blooming and so is my first Phaius of the season.

I had a garden club meeting today and enjoyed it very much. Tomorrow is the opening day of the Tampa Orchid Society show and sale. It should be fun.

Hey, DrDawg -
Please tell me about the picture titled: "Rooted leaf."
What do you mean by "Rooted leaf?"
What it sounds like can't be done, can it?
Sighing! Thanx, Barbara
