Thread OP

Charter ATP Member I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
To make it even more interesting, I had a J. heuffelii 'Mars' produce a couple of offsets on short stolons last year. I tried to get pics, but they did not turn out. It had been overgrown by weeds, so wasn't getting normal sunlight. I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Oh, I wish that photo had turned out. That would have been so interesting, and would have fit right into this thread.

And I was really confused with my Mars. Then I realized I have two different Mars, S. 'Mars' and h. 'Mars'.
I had photos and remembered S. 'Mars' as having stolons, this spring the entire clump looked almost like small heuffelii.
But it is coming out of it and starting to make stolons. It really does have an odd growth habit at times.

Wow Cliff, that is odd, the little offsets sending out offsets. Great photos.
Everyone is finding wonderful oddities out in their semps collections. This is so interesting.

Came across this odd flower stalk on 'Raspberry Ice' yesterday. It's a triple stalk.

And on this stolon on 'Zulu', if you look closely you can see little chicks forming all along the stolon.

This is turning into a year of weird semp happenings.

That Raspberry Ice is going to put on a 4th of July fireworks show. Hurray!

It will be interesting to see if the Zulu stolon offsets bloom. That for sure will look odd. Big Grin

It's OK, I have a ton of them and they need thinning out a bit.

Lynn, there really have been lots of strange things occurring with the semps this year. Fun to see that kind of stuff.

I agree. I think we notice the odd things more than "normal" plant people do. Hilarious!

Is that because we are odd, therefore relate to any of our plants that become odd?
Or is it because we are normal, therefore noticing anything that is not normal? Sticking tongue out
