So I think I figured out why my MG are getting whatever that is. Sometimes I mist them from above like rain and possibly it's too hot with the lights on them and they are trying to take in the water- it definitely has to do with growing under artificial conditions but thankfully it doesn't seem to kill the plants. I'll try to water only in the soil from now on. It's only plants in the Convolvulaceae family that are getting it-

I was in the specialty grocer yesterday and they had passion fruit again so I grabbed 2. I grew out a lot of plants from the fresh seeds last summer!

Ipomoea sepacuitensis, ipomoea carnea ssp fistulosa and ipomoea pes-tigridis seeds. I put the sepacuitensis back in damp paper towels because the cotyledons seem to have a hard time emerging. The pes-tigridis I'm going to pot up today.

I am getting what appears to be good germination rate on old Decalobanthus mammosa (synonym Merremia mammosa) seeds. It will probably get huge like Ipomoea sepacuitensis if it gets growing well. Rumor has it that D. mammosa has yellow flowers. 💛

My 'Lona Mae' Ipomoea nil will probably bloom this weekend. I hope it makes a reverse tube flower. It looks like it wants to.

It does not appear to self-pollinate under the conditions I provide.
The blooms are small as well, at close to 4 centimeters wide or around an inch an a half.
I have chosen to retire from this forum due to issues I have with regards to how it is moderated and personal drama I have recently become aware of.

OMG what a beauty 😍

How voluminous is your plant? Equally curious - about how old is it from seed to bloom?

Here is a new one for me - Decalobanthus mammosa (syn. Merremia mammosa)

Germinated after 5 days. Seeds are probably 10 years old.

My son keeps turning on the kitchen lights after I go to bed which is messing with the hours my plants are under light. I need to move them to the shelving unit where they aren't directly under the bright kitchen lights. It's no wonder they are forming those things on the leaves with the haphazard way they are receiving light.

So I'm pretty excited that I've gotten so many plants to grow this winter despite cat interference. They have now taken to repeatedly knocking over my houseplants on my living room windowsill now but at least I have MG growing!

I don't want to go search through my notes for the week I planted it, but it is around 8-10 months old I believe. The actual vine is vigorous and has sent runners out that need to be trimmed or retrained. I'd guess that the length of the vine is in the neighborhood of 12 feet (3-4 meters) but it is wrapped around a couple of bamboo poles and trained over an aquarium/paladularium.

The light is only on for 10 hours a day right now and I am careful not to expose the plant to bright lights during the dark period, because this can delay flowering in some cases in my experience.

I made a diagram of my set-up for private conversation, but I can share it here:
Thumb of 2023-01-14/Entwined/0f7c47

It should be self explanatory but maybe not. The tank is 75 gallons and the light is a 166 Watt LED made for High Bay lighting.
