Cameron and Cyra as promised here is the first inflo of my mystery seedling I purchased from a local nursery last year (looked to me like a year old seedling then). It was 2 feet tall then, now it is almost 4 feet tall. I kept this in a very small pot for a few months because I kind of want it to get stunted. DH freaks out when he sees tall plants. Rolling on the floor laughing

But earlier this spring I transferred it using the (egg method) to a 1gallon pot and placed it inside a bigger ceramic pot full of rocks to hold it down and keep it from falling down everytime the wind blows. It was happy... and rewarded me with this inflo.

The inflo is a month away from blooming so I got to be patient... Who knows if this is going to be beautiful or plain looking one but still my first seedling bloom so I am thrilled! Maybe my 65 one-year old seedlings will get inspired and bloom next year... Whistling Whistling

Hilarious! That's a very wise saying. I bet the blooms are going to be beautiful Gigi. You'll be able to give it a unique name too. Thumbs up

(Happy smile) We can wait on our inflos to do their thing, together, then. I've 4 or 5 plants crowning, 3 of them were cuttings with latent inflos....pretty good odds on seeing blooms, soon, which I won't be removing;)
One of them is a Kona hybrid, another a Lei Rainbow, and there are 2 DSPs.
Can't wait!
Gigi, if 1 egg gets you an inflo, what'll a whole carton of them get you?

Cyra you are too funny! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I rooted a Hausten White to give to a co-worker. When he learned about the egg method, he got scared because he is worried it will stink, so I still have the plant even if it is fully rooted. It is a gift that the recipient is afraid to accept.

So far, I could not smell a rotten egg in my egg method planting but a dozen egg will most likely give me more stink than blooms. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

By the way, the one with inflo is just one of my many egg method experiments but the other cuttings and my one year old seedlings I planted using egg method did not show any inflos yet Hilarious! . So might just be a coincidence that it is showing an inflo. Not yet truly and fully convinced with the egg method. DH was happy to get rid of egg shells (I mix them with my potting soil) but wasn't too thrilled when I started putting eggs on more than a dozen cuttings and seedling transplants Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing .

Thanks Cameron, I hope I get lucky like you. Plano Special is gorgeous!

I got that quote from Forest Gump movie (I think) by Tom Hanks...not sure if my recollection is right. Those were the days that I have time to watch movies...now am busy tending my forest. Hilarious! "Absolutely no more plants!" DH told me today, after moving a few of my pots and finding a baby snake. Blinking

65.......1-yr.-old seedlings??? Wow, Gigi, that's a lot of plumeria babies! Or are you growing some for graft -stock?
Btw....I use eggs with all my cuttings, and add one each time I repot, too. Wish I lived somewhere I could keep chickens.

Ah, I just repotted 2 plumies today and last week. Should I have given them an egg to minimize the transplant shock? I could still add it to the bottom... I guess.

Do you force them into dormancy or keep them potted up and watered during the winter months?

Oh, I bet they do. I think during winter I will keep mine on the dining table which we don't use anyway. Big Grin

Ken, if they will be seedlings I think I will keep them potted over winter. Will I have to keep them bare roots?

Ken I kept mine potted up. I tried to force them into dormancy, though I've read they should be kept actively growing their first Winter. Mine struggled but as soon as I put them outside, they did wonderfully. I may invest in a Grow light so I can save the window space for my other plants. Thumbs up
