Red is a very difficult color to capture., Try taking a picture just before dark.

This picture is the best I could get. It shows a little more of the purple color and a some of the yellow center. The scent is also stronger. It reminds me of a withered rose.

It is possible that the variety you have there is 'Rose Red'.
