My Bluebeard's Ghost is blooming, and it looks like Starwoman is showing a bit of color on the top bud. I think that Daughter of Stars will be my first TB to bloom. That clump has sent out three strong bloom stalks with purple on all the bloom spathes.

This may not be a very strong bloom season for me because I didn't get around to fertilizing last fall or this spring, and never did garden cleanup. And I never got the maple tree out either, so it's casting too much shade for things to bloom well.

I went around the yard today gathering up fallen sticks and limbs from the maple, and breaking up and bagging them. That's about the limit of my endurance.

Two more new to me Intermediates. First is Fluffy Kitty I really just bought for the name, but will probably look pretty good in a couple of years after it fills in.

The second one is a bonus plant from Sutton's. It is listed as having short fuzzy horns, but my first bloom of it has small flounces.

More irises in bloom today (IDs are probables because I can't go out to look at the labels, but I'm reasonably sure of these):

HIGH DESERT
EASTER CANDY
NORDICA (on a short stalk)
SAFFRON DRIFT
TOTAL RECALL

I have many other irises blooming (which I can see further off) but I can't go out to be sure what they are, and it's driving me wild! D'Oh!

Thursday I have a follow-up dr. appt with an orthopedic surgeon here, so I am hoping that when we get done with that, I can get DH to help me go out to the garden. (He seems to be getting better now.)

Monty, 6 years to bloom?! Money in Your Pocket is pretty, but that is a bit of a wait. Hopefully it is settled in and will bloom every year for you.

Andrea, I have Fluffy Kitty, too. Last year was it's first bloom. Hope to have a nice little flowering clump this year. Your kitty is beautiful! Rolling my eyes.
What is the name of the second iris?

Marilyn - You have Saffron Drift?! That has been a top 5 want of mine for half a decade. Where ever did you get it?

Laurie - It took so long because it was plagued by critters. By the time I was able to rescue it, it was a small rhizome. So I had it on my back porch which I guess did not get enough sun to bloom. Once we moved to the new house in 2022, the rhizome grew and grew and finally, 2024 is the year.

Between moving, critters and less than ideal planting spots prior, I understand why it took so long.

Otherwise, I would neeeever wait six years for a maiden bloom! That's much too long. Hopefully, it blooms year after year now.

Andrea, Road Rage has shocking orange beards! You should enter the image in the database, which currently has no picture of this one.

Monty, Laced edges are not my thing, but Vanilla Frappe does have a beautiful color, and I love the beard colors/pattern. Smiling

Monty, I got SAFFRON DRIFT (if that's what it is, remember that I haven't been out to look at labels) from a friend. This may be the first year that it has bloomed for me, so I have no plans to divide it until summer 2025, if then.

(Given recovering from the wrist surgery and SOMETIME having knee surgery, I am doubtful that I will be dividing anything this summer, tho I will have to somehow pot the incoming and I have irises that at least need bigger pots, the aforementioned iris being one of them. D'Oh! )
