Trumpets are not a real focus these days. Since much comes from the Dutch and cutflower trade, trumpets I feel are the forgotten wonder. The Lily Garden has the most varieties in the market. Her focus is lilies for the garden. Smiling

I can send you some seeds if you want in the fall, if it is something you are interested in trying to grow. They really are easy to grow and flower at a young age. What color are you looking for, might I ask?

Now Polly--you know I said I was going to concentrate on more cloning than seeding this Fall and Winter. If I remember correctly, you mentioned last year that you especially liked those with some green on the reverse (?). I'll see what I can dig up ( Rolling on the floor laughing ). Tell me the colors you like and I'll Tree Mail some pictures and we'll go from there. Tracey and I will fix you up. The Lily Nook also carries some unique Trumpets as does B&D from time to time.

Thanks for the compliment on the overhead shot. I'd be lost without that swivel LED display. It enables me to take front, reverse and sides views while not moving an inch--nice in tight spots. That one's up for cloning, by the way.

Beautiful. I love the green in 4 and 5. Striking.

Here are two different lilies that came from an OP Louis XIV cross

'Lucky Girl' becomes 'Lucky Lady'
(The natural seedling that came up with the weeds by a fence post;pulled with the weeds and nearly thrown in the garbage, when, I looked down and saw this pretty little purple bulb and decided to go back down to the garden and plant it. I planted her in 'Kings Row' about a foot out from where she was born. While planting, as I talked to myself, I said to her: "you are one lucky little girl, yow know that? From then on every time I walked by I'd look down and check to see how lucky girl was doing. I've called her Lucky Girl ever since. Today she became Lucky Lady. Her color is dark wine red reverse (like Stargazer) with fine line white edge. Face is apple blossom. I'll have more on this later today in the Adventures in Seeding Thread) I believe I now know the parents. Mother Nature outdid me with this one--like a star has fallen in my garden!

My camera doesn't capture reds very well. Think of it as the red in the nicest Stargazer you've ever seen. I found her in 2009 and had a couple flowers the last 2 years. She's likely 5 or 6 years old. This year it assumed it's out/downfacing posture and will only get better from here on. I'll get pollen from all the flowers and then jump ahead a little and scale a few out for bublets this Fall to be safe--I'm not going to risk losing this one.

Oh--they never would anyway. If this one developes nicely and stays garden hardy over the next 5 years, your first hunch as to who would get scales would be correct.

Ever notice how SOME lilies go on vacation a year after a heavy bud count. This one cycles that way. I believe this is the pod parent. The first picture is last year. The last one is this year. Not all lilies behave this way--only certain ones. Just something I've noticed along the way.

Very little pink edge this year due to warm nights and hot bright days the last couple weeks. It double nosed for me this year.

The OP Louis XIV crosses are pretty.

Here is Henryi. I never knew it was a trumpet until I looked it up in the database. Have never been able to decide if I like it or not.

Strange... I ordered three 'Anaconda' clones from the Lily Nook:

One was rotten on the inside and all the scales fell off excepting the outermost ones on the basal plate. Those are in propagation now.

One has opened a yellow orange color.

One has opened a lighter color, a bit more yellowish but not like Tracey's. The shape and the size of the petals are also different from both Tracey's and the yellow orange one.

Of the two bulbs I planted (huge with multiple noses) I have five stems.

I love ordering by the threes, it is like a box of chocolates!
