Well because they are saying lots of rain for tomorrow I decided today was a good day for one of our extra long exercise walks that my dog Lily and I go on sometimes. We always go on exercise walks but some days extra long ones. Today was a 4 mile extra long walk. Lily loved it!! That dog always wants to keep walking no matter how far we go.

She's a little trooper! Nicki will sometimes stop & not want to budge, but then if I offer a treat, she'll decide to walk further......This past month, she's been picking up acorns & will not spit them out unless I produce a treat.....little monster!

Lily's treat seems to be the walk.

I hope that she doesn't swallow them.

No, she doesn't eat them....just threatens to, unless I yell 'spit!' At the entrance to the dam are 2 Italian chestnut trees.....the spines on the husks are hideous..... I try to kick them out of the way, so Nicki doesn't step on them. Picked up a dozen or so of the nuts today......guess I'll boil them. Usually, folks pick them up as soon as they open....there are black walnut trees at the dam picnic area....I've never had any luck opening them, but I read somewhere you have to store them for a whole year before husking them.....and have a garage full of squirrels!

Cute.....saw several dogs & kitties at an adoption event today....too well behaved to interest Nicki!

Nothing cuter than a pup......sad news here....my son has to have Ollie euthanized today.....he's 13, & in rough shape, but now his back legs won't support him, so Garret has no choice....my late DH & I raised him from 8 weeks on while Garret & his wife went to work.....Ollie & our airedale, Robin, were best buddies.....they'll meet on the Rainbow Bridge today.......

I am so sorry. A very sad day but you know that it is time.

Thanks from us all.....met my nephew & his family for brunch today....they live in the Bronx, but came to CT...told them about Ollie....my nephew said he was living on borrowed time for the past year....I guess he was, but it just showed what a fighter he was.....wish I could send a photo of him, but this site is not allowing me to do it.....cannot send the emojis either.....

Sad for him. I am sure Ollie was well loved and had a good life.
