I would t order much from growjoy. Their celosias looked like garbage when they arrived. The hibiscus I ordered a year ago were ok. They were not in great condition but they survived.

It was worth the wait. Smiling

I really love Cherry Choco Latte, it looks like it's bleeding. Here's my only Hibiscus, not sure it's name.

So, I was having trouble with one hibiscus. Only got to 6-inches last year in 2021 (it was new and planted fall 2020).
This year it had 2 stalks about the same short size, one died, the smaller one looked sickly.
In a last-ditch effort I saw this stuff in a big-box store. Sprinkled it around the sick hibiscus (and the other healthy ones, too).
https://www.pennington.com/all...
Wow, the sick one took off, is about 2ft tall now, and now has several buds (as yet unbloomed - not a super-sunny area). It looks healthy.
The others have bloomed more buds than I have ever had before. They are both done blooming for the year now though.

I thought I should share just in case anyone is having trouble with a fussy hibiscus. My fussy one was the Summer Carnival. Crossing Fingers! it blooms before it gets too cold.

plasko20, you are not alone on that one. I'm on the third year and finally it's taking
off. Buds but no blooms yet.

Fussy? or just plain wimpy? Thinking
I have lost 2 Summer Carnivals from two different suppliers. Other hibiscuses in both orders did fine. If I ever get brave enough for a 3rd try, I'll get that fertilizer.

Was out this am and took photos. She is sitting in a pot sunk into the
whiskey barrel, just in case she doesn't like the spot.

That deer netting is a good idea. A couple of mine are floppy, but most hold themselves up pretty well.

@Cannnunnal
Welcome!
Is this Xeramtheum under a new account or are you actually a new member?
I trade seeds, but don't have Plum Crazy. Many of the Hardy Hibiscus Hybrids don't self pollinate, and even if they do, the offspring may or may not resemble the parent plant. (Pink Elephant is an example of one that self pollinates, but has consistently disappointing offspring.)
Maybe someone else has Plum Crazy, or can share a link where to order it.

Cannnunnal, welcome!
Our PH Plum Crazy was a gift from another forum group after I made a cancer quilt for a special member who had cancer. The owner of the group had a nursery but sold it when they moved across the pond.
I have never tried rooting from cuttings until this year due to folks requesting her, so I'm going to give it a try. She doesn't set seeds and I got some seeds from someone that they had but this year the plants that sprouted didn't have the beautiful bronze leaf color. So, we will have to see when they bloom. I'll take more cuttings soon. Are you in the states??

I just wanted to say that 'Summer Carnival' is one of the hardiest for me and easiest to grow. I didn't even amend the soil when I planted it. It does better in the ground than in pots though.

Good to know, Clint.
One of mine died in ground, the other in a pot.
All mine do better in ground. Pots dry out too quickly here.

The reason I have some in pots is because I'm not wanting to loose them, they were special gifts. I only have 3 in pots and totally agree that having them in the ground works great!!
