Really gorgeous blooms, Rita! They're all so beautiful that I don't think I could pick a favorite -- except that I love the name SCREAMING QUEEN! What a hoot!!! And how did you come across all these various daylilies from all the different hybridizers? I realize you were primarily looking for dormants, but you keep showing daylilies from hybridizers I've never heard of -- I love it!

Betty- I would rather have dormants although I know that I have plenty of evergreens here too. There are so many more northern hybridizers that I have found and I have a tendency to just keep buying from them. Some are somewhat more south but I no longer buy the southern beauties hybridized by the Florida names. And for years now I have been buying direct from those hybridizers that I fill up my garden with.

Emmerich, Korth, Norris, Culver, Mason, Rich, Derrow, Schaben, Meadows, Selman, Thomas, Murphy, Owen, Rice, Hibard, Davison, Morry and more intros share my garden with those daylilies I started off with from those big name Florida hybridizers.

When I discovered that not all daylilies were hybridized in Florida I deffinately jumped on the northern hybridizers bandwagon and just found more and more of them. Most of these are rather well known.

Once again, incredible beauties! I wonder what your average summertime temperatures are there, and I guess you get a lot of rain and/or fertilize quite a bit to have such rich deep green foliage and lush blooms. Right now it's over 100 here and pretty miserable, and what few daylilies I have in bloom are really suffering. Bummer! But I hope there's a way to keep your picture links going after this upcoming move...

Betty-

I don't know what the summer average temps are, I do know that we are quite humid here on Long Island. But it is no wear near as hot as you guys get. We do get lots of rain most springs and this spring is no exception.

I don't fertilize much. I fertilize all the daylilies in the spring with a bagged fertilizer usually Plant Tone. This spring I did use Flower Tone instead. Then after bloom season I give them a good dose of Neptunes Liquid Seaweed Fertilizer.

Thumb of 2011-07-09/Newyorkrita/82bd92
This is an experient I was trying to see how fast it would upload, Took literally FIVE SECONDS.

Westbourne Homestead

However I also need it in photobuck and it made a small picture.

Trying again.

Westbourne Homestead. Took maybe 30seconds?
Tried it in photobucket and made a decent sized picture similar to the ones I used have.

I have been saving in full size so that goes on my hard drive. I didn't even notice the box at the bottom were you can change before you save. First experiment was "best for web". Looks ok here but too small at photobuck. Second one is 50% size. Looks ok. I think I will try the 75% next.

On my iPad, I don't see any difference between the size of the last two pictures. I agree the first one is to small.

Are you sure you are still saving one image to your hard drive that is full size?

I usually have two copies. The full size one just has the flower name. The smaller one has the name with _web.jpg at the end. I do two because I have a web page away from DG or Cubits that does not downsize first.

I do know that downsizing photos first WILL make your upload time here quicker.

If we keep plugging away at this, we will figure something out!

Oh well. When I posted this it was still back in the old place but I see it is now at the New Forum of All Things Plants. I didn't expect it to move today.

Now I have to go just click on the Daylily Forum header and Just see how the Daylily Forum will be looking.
