The larger Drac is in full fly mode and about 4' tall.

I didn't notice any odor while taking the photos but after sticking my nose in the spathe understand people's complaints. I wouldn't hesitate to plant it next to the door though.

This is little Drac a few days ago which bloomed at about 20".

I may grow in a pot next year because the only way to see the spadix and inside of the spathe is to walk into that bed.

Guess I should try moving my A. konjac into a bit more sun. They've been in the ground for five years, but are still only 2-3' high, despite producing various offsets. I know they can't handle full sun here (lost that battle with the first set of corms I put in the ground) but I may have overreacted.

Thanks! Every time I see something like this, it gets me thinking about what kinds of ecological pressures would would trigger such amazing and intricate evolutionary responses!

A tidbit of information I learned the other day is that the mature tubers, even though flattened globose, should be planted vertically with the growing point down. This is their natural habit and the new tuber will be reconstituted in this way. Hopefully we'll get a tuber pic in our database soon.
