Amorphophallus krausei. I wish I had put these in separate pots so I could have forced one to go dormant early. The stolons were about the same size a large A. konjac gets.

They look happy !
My A. bulbifer in the ground is already laying down. I don't think A. konjac Beigh stem and Leo's song liked all our wet weather. I lost both of them. The regular A. konjac seems to be ok tho. Potted bulbifer and 1 pot of atroviridis going strong. The other A. atroviridis that bloomed never sent any leaves up, but the bulb is nice and firm so I think it's just going to take a rest now. Maybe it will divide again.

I'm sorry to hear that mj. Were they potted? I can't imagine dealing with so much rain.

Bulbifer has such nice looking petioles. I have a single leaf bulbil but the plant looks pretty strong. A. atroviridis is just making an appearance. Big Grin

All are potted except one bulbifer in the ground. All the potted ones are in the same mix too, so kinda weird.
A. bulbifer just gets better and better the bigger it get's. I'll be curious to see how big my bulb is latter on. Right now that plant shows no signs of laying down at all.

Last year I started adding more Perlite to my mix, so equal parts with potting soil and medium pine bark mulch. Plus some charcoal. I haven't found "shredded" pine bark which is what Alan G. uses.

I've never had an Amorhophallus rot on me before. I use a ton of perlite in the mix, and none of the others rotted. All in the same growing conditions. Shrug!

Hi, I am new here but I love the Araceae like Amorphophallus. This is my biggest A. konjac, the clean tuber weighted 5.6 kg (~11 pounds?). Besides konjac I have A. dunnii, A. nepalensis, A, paeoniifolia, A. thaiensis and A. yunannensis (can't be fully sure of some as they have not flowered yet).

About rot: they will all rot here easily when cold (in my 12C (55F) cellar), wet and dormant. In dormancy I keep them soilless. Though smaller tubers seem far less prone to rot hen big ones.

I can see my Giant Yam Amorphophallus paeoniifolius pushing up the soil, which seems a little early to me. I think I will separate out all the tubers next year too. There were three little ones last year but it did not flower. Pictures soon.

I am uncertain if this is going to be a bloom or a frond. But it is certainly big.

I had forgotten to check on it over the last few days. So I snuck up on it at midnight just now.

It is not fully open yet. I am upstairs in my house 30 yards away and the stench is coming through pungent and foul. I can hear my next door neighbours trying to find what has died in their yard. The blowflies are in seventh heaven.

Mums the word.

It rained today but the bloom looks quite good and it is fully open. Not as many blowflies. I thought the smell had gone - but it is just after sunset now (1820) and I can smell the putridness wafting up, into and through the house.

Joy.
