I am not sure yet Evan. It had three small companions last year. I am suspicious that I am only seeing one shoot so far. It is so terribly dry at the moment too. Maybe summer will bring the rain next month.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

You are right about Konjac being slow to start. I had mine for nearly 2 weeks and its still more root development- from what I can tell by looking at the soil surface, a white feeder root is growing- then leaf/ I keep it moist/well fertlized and under my light. The main shoot is fatter but still not really much of a change

By the way I live in zone 4 /St paul, MN when should I have my voodoo lily/houseplants outdoors?

I was thinking Mamoral day, May 25th, but we are headed up to tayeler falls WIS that weekend to do some camping//.fun stuff

My Konjac is putting out roots but no stem so far - it's actually right on schedule for my zone 8.

Mine seem fine down to maybe 52 or 45, 50 would be better im sure.
Konjac is durable!
Once it's growing it's unlikely you'll rot it, at most the cold will slow it down.
I'd strongly advise getting it out soon as you can.
The petiole will be long and spindly as will the leaf, if it starts growing under a light!
Even if you have to juggle it in at night and out in morning.

Mine get full sun most of the day, sun up til 3-4, it makes stalky plants, more robust and muscular looking, and they are in fact stronger and don't break in the wind.
Even tho the plants appear somewhat smaller, I think that as long as you water and feed enough, then you get slot better bulb grow, which will equal a larger plant the next year, or more pups...
Not all amorphs can handle that much sun, especially the smaller ones.
The Titan seems to handle shade well when young, and more and more sun as it gets larger and more importantly taller.
Really if you think about they way they grow, they're well designed to pierce upward through dense foliage and then spread out and shade the plants it blasted past.
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

That's cool. Mine is all the way leafed out now. Its a looker/ the konjac. But still not nearly full grown.

The bulbifer forced flower has died..... no leaf yet but roots are coming out of the bulb I gave it water and cut off the spent bloom.

Looks great ! I've got mine in pots still. Except for one A. bulbifer I left in the ground over the winter. It's already up, while the momma bulb has bloomed but hasn't sent up a shoot yet.

I really need to get some pics taken. The Leo Song you sent last fall is growing like a weed ! and so is the Taccarum weddellianum. It's got 4 shoots in the pot. Not sure how big a pot I should put it in, it's in a 6 (?) in. now..I think. and looks like it's going to outgrow it soon. Was afraid to put them in too big a pot.

Wish I could help with pot size but I guess and go. Under potted does sound safer though. 4 shoots is great. As LariAnn says Pictures are always in vogue. Hilarious!

Ok @eclayne....here's Leo's Song...roots are growing out the bottom of the pot so time to move up.

Thumb of 2015-07-12/mjsponies/7cdd0a

and the Taccarum weddellianum , which I'm not sure if I should move up another size yet or not ?

You definitely have the touch mj. I don't know how sensitive the Tacca is to being disturbed but it sure looks happy.

I sent you the wrong plant mj. This doesn't look like Leo Song so I'll have to get you something else.

Which one is it Evan ? The one's you sent were Beige Stem, and this one. The Beige stem is much smaller but growing well.

I think I'm going to go ahead and move the Taccarum to a bigger pot. I doubt it is blooming size yet and the roots are literally growing out of the bottom of the pot it's in now.

Does it send up a bloom before foliage like the Amorphophallus ?

It looks closer to the regular konjac to me. My bad.

Aloha,
Hope you don't mind me dropping in at this tread. I'm trying to ID this Amorph. Someone said it was Konjac but not sure if the leaf is right. Another idea was Sauromatum Venosum (sp?).
Thanks
Mike
