Took the Christmas lights down without falling off the ladder, a success!

Mulched blackberries, blueberries and a nanking cherry. Then helped my dad finish raking by raking out 3 flower beds and hauling them down to the woods. Some of the beds will get a burn job once the burn ban goes away and it's a calm day.

Was out all day, cutting down bamboo (anyone have a panda?) and tree boughs shading beds. Also pruned grapes and blackberry. Turned over the rest of the beds, too, but need more compost.

Out all day again today, got more leaf compost and added them to the beds, then researched how to prune plum trees, and pruned ours. More bamboo came down, and some tree boughs shading out areas that need more sun.

Beautiful day in Arizona after 2 days of drenching rain. I planted green arrow peas, transplanted some miniature roses and planted some garlic chive seedlings. I also transplanted some lime basil into the top of my upside down tomato plant.

Nothing major happened on this work day. Snapped a cool pic of several planes criss crossing the sky.

Not much for the garden but attempted ice skating with my Sister and little nephews. They are all better than me 😄

I transplanted sweet peppers and herbs today. I'm about to separate some tomatillo seedlings into cups to try to get them ready for outside.

Spent all morning weeding. I really wish the flowers were as prolific as the weeds! Whistling

Tried digging out a thistle about the size of a small dinner plate. Only got about 3 inches of thick root and the rest disappeared so that it will come back later. Next time it's the Roundup treatment. It's in a bad spot for someone to hurt themselves on it so gotta go.

We had a meth head that lives on the next road tear up our front yard last weekend. He told his neighbor that our surveillance cameras were spying on him! (Which they wouldn't be doing if he's not on our property!) He drove over my hosta bed in the front yard Grumbling Grumbling Now I have to try and give the State's Atty an amount of the damage to a small tree, lawn and the hostas in this part of the bed... I'm not really sure how much damage that he did to my hostas. The ground wasn't frozen, so I'm going to assume that the crowns were damaged by the weight of the truck.

And, yes... our surveillance cameras did the trick and now he has a court date!

We are keeping records of the time we're spending cleaning and raking, have a list of the plants that I know are in that part of the bed, estimating the cost of the small blue spruce and buying materials for the watering system. I'm not sure if anything will happen to him, but we're going to try!

I have been dumping leaves on bulbs and my Hosta garden like a mad woman. Plants are springing up out of the ground fast, fast, fast.

We are going to be in the sixties and a seventy day or two for the next week or two. I know we could be six feet under snow in March. I do not want to miss the. Spring blooms and rag tag hostas all summer. Crying

We've had 6 days of record breaking highs and now, snow is on the way! We aren't supposed to get anything worth shoveling, but lows in the 20's. I'll probably lose some of the buds on my hydrangea and viburnum bushes. No hostas up yet (that I've seen), so hopefully those will be okay. We had a late frost last year that killed off the new growth on the bottom half of our Bald Cypress. I thought it was a goner, but it came back and looked fine. The Dogwood tree didn't look so great, though. I'm afraid it's going to happen again this year. Very strange weather for all of us that are used to cold, snowy winters... Good luck with your gardens. I hope to see beautiful pictures of your blooms again this summer.

At least my grapes and blackberry haven't leafed out yet. The hydrangea threw caution to the wind, and so did the rain lilies--which are in almost constant shade, so there's a hint about soil temps though I don't have a thermometer--and most of the roses. I'm just bracing myself for March. The lowest I see forecast so far is 36 at night, but that could get worse.

I'm planning to be out on the deck working. Already checked for pea sprouts. It would seem the squirrels are sick of playing "found the pea" with me. I've just poked them back in and covered them back up every time I found one on the surface. I guess I was no fun. But no sprouts yet.

I do need to water the beds I turned over, too. Not looking forward to that exercise.

oh Rose that's awful. He ought to get at least some misdemeanors if they don't pursue the drug charges. New hostas are expensive. I get named varieties on sale for $10 - small too. And your tree, I'd estimate it at the price to get the same variety delivered and planted. With this crazy weather there may be other damage too that won't show for a while. Just awful.

Those drugs does so much damage to the brain and most of them start to hallucinate. They think everyone is watching them.
Maybe this will force him to get some help before something worst happen.

The cameras are great. Alcohol is a bad drug too. I had a drunk house wife problem years ago.. She backed out of her garage and came across the street for my houses. She took down hedges a lilac bush that slowed her down so the front door was saved with just a dent. At her speed she would have been in the living room.
